Notes: A, B and E are needed for the pig slippers. A, C, D, and E are needed for the mouse slippers. Only small amounts of B, D, and E are needed, and only a small amount of A is needed for the mouse slippers. Crochet Hook: 4mm [US G-6]. Yarn needle, stitch marker, elastic cord (optional). GAUGE: 16 sts = 4; 10 rounds = 2 in single crochet. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size hook to obtain the gauge. PIG SLIPPER (make 2) Sole Sole is worked, from the center of the foot outwards, in joined rounds. Do not turn at the ends of rounds. With A, ch 15 (19, 23). Round 1 (Right Side): Work 2 sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 8 (10, 12) ch, hdc in next ch, dc in next 3 (5, 7) ch, 5 dc in last ch for toe; working across opposite side of foundation, dc in next 3 (5, 7) ch, hdc in next ch, sc in next 8 (10, 12) ch, 2 sc in last ch; join with slip st in first sc33 (41, 49) sts. Round 2: Ch 1, sc in first st, 2 sc in next st, sc in next 13 (17, 21) sts, 2 sc in next st, 3 sc in next st, 2 sc in next st, sc in next 13 (17, 21) sts, 2 sc in next st, sc in last st; join with slip st in first sc39 (47, 55) sts. Round 3: Ch 1, sc in first st, 2 sc in next st, sc in next 16 (20, 24) sts, 2 sc in next st, 3 sc in next st, 2 sc in next st, sc in next 16 (20, 24) sts, 2 sc in next st, sc in last st; join with slip st in first sc45 (53, 61) sts. Elastic Edging (optional): With Right Side facing, place a length of elastic cord over top edge of ankle opening, leaving ends of elastic cord extending over back of heel. Join A with sc in top edge at back of heel, working over the elastic cord, sc evenly spaced around ankle opening; join with slip st in first sc. Fasten off. Pull gently on ends of elastic cord and tie ends together securely. Face With A, ch 4; join with slip st in first ch to form a ring. Round 1 (Right Side): Ch 1, 8 sc in ring; do not join8 sc. Place marker for beginning of round, move marker up as work progresses. Round 2: Work 2 sc in each sc around16 sc. Round 3: [Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc] 8 times24 sc. Round 4: [2 sc in next sc, sc in next 2 sc] 8 times32 sc. First Ear: Ch 2, [yarn over, insert hook in next st, yarn over and draw up a loop, yarn over and draw through 2 loops on hook] 3 times (4 loops on hook), yarn over and draw through 3 loops on hook, yarn over and draw through 2 loops on hook (first ear made). Fasten off. Second Ear: With Right Side facing, skip next 3 sc following first ear, join A with slip st in next sc, work same first ear. Fasten off. Snout: With A, ch 4, 2 sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next ch, 4 sc in last ch; working across opposite side of foundation ch, sc in next ch, 2 sc in next ch; join with slip st in first sc10 sc. Fasten off. Finishing Sew snout to center of face. With E, embroider French Knot eyes above snout, and straight stitch nostrils on snout. With B, embroider straight stitch mouth below snout. Sew face to top of slipper. Weave in ends.
MOUSE SLIPPER (make 2) With C, make sole and upper, join sole to upper and add elastic edging (optional) same as for pig slipper. Face With C, ch 4; join with slip st in first ch to form a ring. Work Rounds 14 of face for pig. First Ear: Drop C from hook, but do not fasten off, join A with slip st in next sc, ch 3, 6 dc in same sc. Fasten off A. Place dropped loop of C back on hook, working across A-colored sts, 2 sc in top of beginning ch-3, 2 sc in each of next 6 dc, slip st in next 5 sc of face. Do not fasten off. Second Ear: Work same as first ear, omitting last 5 slip sts. Fasten off. Finishing With E, embroider satin stitch nose on center of face, French Knot eyes above nose, and straight stitch mouth below nose. With D, embroider straight stitch whiskers on both sides of nose.
