At work: desire to make a meaningful contribution Trapped by monotony

We naturally defend ourselves, our property, accomplishments, friends, family, beliefs Fight or flight response Fulfilling this drive leads o feelings of security and confidence

This also explains resistance to change. Eg. Mergers & Acquisitions: Feelings of vulnerability exploited by headhunters.
