M.E. DEGREE EXAMINATION, JANUARY 2006 Elective CAD CD 1671 DESIGN OF HYDRAULICS AND PNEUMATICS SYSTEMS (Common to M.E. Engineering Design) (Regulation 2005) Time: Three hours Answer ALL the questions. PART A (10 2 = 20 marks) 1. 2. 3.
What are the parameters to be considered while selecting a pump? What are the characteristics of rotary actuators? What is the function of a pressure relief valve? How does it differ functionally from a pressure reducing valve? State the function of solenoid operated 4/2 DCV? What are the functions of an accumulator in the circuits? Discuss the real life applications of sequencing circuits? What are the basic law that governs the pneumatic systems? Explain about switching circuits? Which system is called low cost automation? Why? How is microprocessors used in pneumatic systems?
