Hobbies
I have a number of interests including traveling, hiking, reading, Kayaking or just about any outdoor activity. I like testing my skills as a survivalist by hiking and kayaking in areas with limited access that very few people have seen.
Whenever I have a day off from working at Bass Pro Shops or going to school it is very likely that you can find me fishing. I could fish since before I could walk and it is my retreat for when I have time for myself.
Sports
Sports have always been a big part of my life. I played every sport my parents could put me in when I was in grade school. As I moved into Junior high I played football, basketball, track and tennis with most of my attention going towards basketball. When I moved into high school I had a highly negative basketball coach that really pushed me away from the game. It wasnt all bad though as I put my focus towards football and exceled. I had the opportunity to play one year of football at Howard Payne University and I still watch as much football as I can squeeze in. My love for sports is a large part of what pushed me to pursue coaching.
Mentors
Jeff Frizell- also known as my Dad. My Dad worked as a Vice president for an international company most of my sports playing days. He was required to make many trips a year to Switzerland, but he still managed to make it to almost every single contest I ever played. He has always been the first person to tell me that I played well and he never got onto me about how I played unless he thought I was dogging it. He is still the first person I go to when I have a problem. Tally Kelso- My eighth grade football and basketball coach. Toughest coach I ever had but he was always quick to give praise and we as players always got his best effort out on the court or field. Michael Pack- My JV football coach. He always did things to make the games fun even when we were getting beat up by the varsity squad. He is a first class professional. The person he is speaking to at any moment is the most important person in the world.
Professional Heroes
Tony Dungy Mack Brown
Family
My Brother is a dive master and is a environmental scientist for the Texas Environmental Commission. My two awesome parents met at East Central University and have been married for thirty-two years.
Faith
It is only appropriate that my story ends with faith, because that is where every day starts and ends for me. I was raised in the Church and trained to live on the principles of my beliefs. It is no coincidence that Tony Dungy and Tom Osborne are two of the most important coaching Icons to me. I admire these men because they established their programs on the foundations of Faith. While what you can say in public schools is greatly scrutinized and scripture (probably rightfully so) is forbidden from educators I do believe that you can still use principles of faith and leadership used in the Bible to establish a program.
