Field Trips 1. Explain which field trip you are most excited about.

submitted by: Pietra Jerome

The field trip I am most excited about is having a D.A.R.E instructor come into the classroom and speak. I remember doing this as a student and I was very interested and eager to learn about the harmful effects of drugs, public and self-safety. The students will also be able to actively participate in classroom discussions and activities to help them better understand how to protect their community and themselves. Student will also be able to graduate from the D.A.R.E program after they have completed the course. Having a police officer come and speak to the class will engage the students and help them achieve successful community and school involvement.

2. What challenges did you run into during this assignment?

The main challenge I ran into when doing this assignment was making sure that the younger children would be able to understand how to use the virtual websites correctly. I tried to pick virtual field trips that had videos, graphics and activities for the students to do. Some children may be new to computers and may have a hard time navigating and working on a computer. I just want to make sure that the children arent wasting valuable classroom time. Another factor that I thought might pose a challenge is the amount of funding each school gets. I dont know if the traditional fields I picked may be too expensive for transportation and other fees associated with field trips.
