Project Performance Analysis: Ankit Pareek

This document discusses project performance analysis techniques. It defines project performance as the overall quality of a project in terms of its impact, value and effectiveness. Project performance analysis is described as a technique to determine how well a project is performing relative to its baseline plan by identifying variances over time. The document outlines common methods of project performance analysis including budgeted cost of work scheduled, budgeted cost of work performed, actual cost of work performed and additional cost for completion. Formulas for calculating cost variance, schedule variance, cost performance index and schedule performance index are also provided.

Project performance
The overall quality of a project in terms of its
impact, value to beneficiaries, implementation
effectiveness, and efficiency and sustainability.

Project performance Analysis
A technique for determining how well a project
is performing relative to an agreed upon plan
(often known as a baseline). approach puts an
emphasis on identifying how much variance
from the plan occurs over time.
Project performance Analysis
The technique is applicable to both project
execution as well as post-execution for
keeping the project on track and determining
lessons learned. It is also a powerful means of
understanding root cause of project delays
during a project forensics exercise.

Methods of Project performance
Analysis

The budgeted cost of individual tasks as they
are scheduled in the project plan, based on
the costs of the resources that are assigned
to those tasks, plus any fixed costs that are
associated with the tasks.

1. Budgeted cost of work scheduled (BCWS)

2.Budgeted cost of work performed
(BCWP)

The value of the work that is performed by the
status date, measured in currency. This is
literally the value earned by the work performed
and is called the budgeted cost of work
performed (BCWP). This value is calculated for
each individual task, but is analysed at an
aggregate level (typically at the project level).

3.Actual cost of work performed
(ACWP)

The actual cost that is required to complete all
or some portion of the tasks, up to the status
date. This is the actual cost of work performed
(ACWP).
4.Additional cost for complition (ACC)
This represent the estimate for the additional
Cost required for completing the project.
Formulas
Cost variance: BCWP-ACWP
Schedule variance in cost terms: BCWP-BCWS
Cost performance index: BCWP/ACWP
Schedule performance index: BCWP/BCWS
Estimated Cost performance index:
: BCTW/(ACWP+ACC)
