of Students Abroad (DASA) Scheme of Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India for
Undergraduate programmes in Engineering/ Architecture/ Planning for the Academic year 2014-15 to National
Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), Schools of Planning and Architecture
(SPAs), and other premier Technical Institutions in India.
1. ADMISSIONS UNDER DASA SCHEME 2014-15
From time immemorial, India has been a centre for learning. Indian Universities and Institutes of higher education and
research have made a significant contribution in science and technology and have played a lead role in transforming the
country into a knowledge society. India can claim its position as one of the leading countries providing affordable higher
education to its people as well as to students and scholars from countries all over the world. Students can be assured of
experiences rich in traditions, heritage, and exposure to diverse culture which would enable them to acquire the
necessary skills to succeed in todays global economy without geographical barriers.
The Technical Institutions which are participating in DASA 2014-15 have established themselves among the top
ranked

Institutions in the country in both teaching and research and the graduates are assured of a rewarding
professional career. The NITs and IIITs are declared as Institutes of National Importance by an Act of Parliament and the
other Institutions are Deemed Universities. All Institutions are Autonomous Institutions and a degree from any of these
Institutions is among the most competitive of its kind when pursuing an international career in architecture,
engineering or technology. The alumni of these Institutions have excelled themselves in various fields of science,
technology and management in various parts of the world.
The admission to Foreign Nationals/ Persons of Indian Origin/ Non-Resident Indians to undergraduate programs in
premier Technical Institutions is being offered under DASA scheme of MHRD from the academic session 2001-02
onwards. MHRD has entrusted the coordination of the admission process under DASA scheme for the academic year
2014-15 to NITK, Surathkal vide official order (MHRD F.35-10/2013-TS.III dated January 09, 2014).
Those seeking admission under DASA scheme have to apply online, fill an online application form and make fee
payment through SWIFT transfer / E-payment on or before 17:00 (IST), May 26, 2014. Further a signed hard copy of the
online application form along with necessary documents has to be submitted to DASA Office, NITK Surathkal on or
before 17:00 (IST), May 31, 2014. Candidates should also arrange to send SAT Subject Test scores directly from College
Board, USA, to National Institute of Technology Karnataka (Institute Code: 6530) so as to reach DASA Office, NITK
Surathkal on or before 17:00 HRS (IST) May 31, 2014.

2. ADMISSION DETAILS
2.1 Eligibility Criteria
2.1.1. Age
Only candidates born on or after October 01, 1989 are eligible. Date of birth as recorded in the Secondary Education
Board / University Certificate [Class X or equivalent] or any certificate issued by the Government authorities only will be
taken as authentic.
2.1.2. Academic Eligibility
Candidate must have passed the qualifying examination, i.e. Senior Secondary [10+2] or equivalent [See
Appendix-I] from any system of education as recognized by the Association of Indian Universities
(www.aiuweb.org).

Candidate should have completed successfully Mathematics, Physics and one of the subjects from (Chemistry,
Bio-technology, Computer Science, Biology) in 11
th
AND / OR 12
th
, as applicable in the respective boards.
AND
Candidate must have secured a minimum of at least 60% aggregate marks (average of all subjects of qualifying
examination taken together) or 6.75 CGPA (on a 10 point scale) or equivalent in the qualifying examination. In
case, CGPA on a different scale is awarded OR if only grades are awarded, percentage/CGPA equivalence provided
by the principal examination authorities will only be considered. Candidates appearing for the qualifying
examination with the above-mentioned subjects in the academic year 2013-14 and expecting their final results
latest by September 15, 2014 may also apply.
AND
Candidate should have a minimum total valid score of 1440 in SAT Subject Tests (Subjects: Mathematics
Level 2, Physics and Chemistry). SAT subject test score has to be send directly through College Board to NITK
(Institute Code: 6530). Internet downloaded score cards are not acceptable. Candidates at the time of
registration for SAT Subject Tests should indicate Institute code 6530 for sending their scores to NITK. Candidates
who have taken multiple attempts in SAT Subject Tests can send each valid score to NITK directly through College
Board USA. The best valid score in each subject will be considered for arriving at the total score which will be
used for merit list preparation. SAT Subject Test scores received till May 31, 2014 only will be considered for
preparation of merit lists for Round 1, Round 2 and Round 3.

2.1.3. Residential Requirement

2.2 Application Fee payment
2.2.1 Fee Structure
Registration Fee and First Semester Tuition Fee: A total amount of US$ 3,750 [US Dollars Three thousand seven
hundred and fifty only] is required to be paid along with the application form. This is towards non-refundable
registration fee of US$ 250 [US Dollars Two hundred and fifty only] and first semester Tuition Fee of US$ 3,500
[US Dollars Three thousand five hundred only]
Foreign Nationals, who are nationals of SAARC countries, are eligible for 50% Tuition Fee waiver provided they
have passed the qualifying examination in SAARC countries. They are required to pay an amount of US$ 2,000 [US
Dollars Two thousand only] along with the application form (i.e. US$ 1,750 towards first semester tuition fee and
a non refundable registration fee of US$250).
Candidates from Nepal and Bhutan can pay their fees either in US Dollars or in Equivalent Indian Rupees.
However, in case of Rupee payment they are required to get Exchange Rate Certificate from the bankers and
submit the same along with the application form.
Tuition Fee for subsequent semesters of study: The tuition fee of US$ 3,500/ US$ 1,750 (as applicable) for the
subsequent semesters of study is to be paid by the admitted candidates, directly to the concerned Institution, as
per rules of the admitting Institution.
Hostel Accommodation and other Expenses: Hostel fee and other expenses, which may typically range from
US$ 400 US$800 per annum and may vary from Institute to Institute, are required to be paid by the candidate
directly to the Institution at the time of admission. Candidates are advised to visit the websites or contact
concerned authorities of the respective Institutes for detailed information regarding hostel accommodation and
other expenses.
2.2.2 Fee Payment
The candidates who fulfill the admission criteria specified at 2.1 above (under sub clauses 2.1.1, 2.1.2 and 2.1.3),
should submit the print copy of the completed online application form duly signed by the candidate as well as
parent / guardian along with requisite registration fee and first semester tuition fee. The fee can be paid either
through SWIFT Transfer or E-payment. Charges for fee payment, if any, should be borne by the candidate.

IMPORTANT:
While transferring the money through SWIFT, all Bank transaction charges should be borne by the candidate. In
the SWIFT payment form at field 71A: Details of Charges, type as OUR. Candidates are advised to ensure that all
Bank charges are paid by themselves.
B. Details for Electronic Payment (E-Payment):
For E-payment, candidates have to use the weblink given in the online application form for paying through their
credit/debit card. On successful completion of the transaction a Transaction ID would be generated automatically
and will appear in the application form. Candidates are also advised to note the Transaction ID separately for
future reference.
Note: Any transaction charges towards SWIFT / E-Payment should be borne by the candidate.
2.3 Refund of Fees and mode of refund
The registration fee of US$ 250 is non-refundable.
2.3.1 Refund Rules
Refund will be regulated as follows:
a. Candidates who withdraw their application, on or before May 31, 2014
OR
Candidates who are not allotted a seat as per their choices indicated due to non-availability of desired
course/ Institution
OR
Candidates who are not meeting the eligibility criteria at the time of processing the application
will be allowed full refund of tuition fee component paid along with the application.
b. Candidates, who withdraw after May 31, 2014
OR
Candidates, who are allotted any seat as per their choices, and do not accept the allotment (decline or
no response within the prescribed time limit),
will be allowed a refund of 50% of tuition fee component paid along with the application..
c. Candidates, who accept the seat allotted and later on change their decision, by not joining and
candidates who have been provided provisional admission and rejected at the time of admission for
want of academic eligibility, will not be considered for any refund of tuition fee component paid along
with the application.
d. Candidates, who withdraw their admissions in the first semester after joining the Institutions or could
not submit academic or other documents in time, will not be considered for any refund of tuition fee
component paid along with the application.
e. Candidates, who had not submitted their qualifying exam results at the time of submission of
application, may be provisionally allotted a seat based on their merit based on SAT Subject Test scores.
If they take provisional admission in an Institute, they shall submit their results later within a specified
date (September 15, 2014). If they are found not qualified based on their (10+2) or equivalent exam
results on that date, then such candidates will not be considered for any refund of tuition fee
component paid along with the application.
f. Candidates who are allotted a seat in Spot round as per their choices and do not accept the allotment
(decline or no response within the prescribed time limit) will not be considered for any refund of
tuition fee component paid along with the application.
Note: Such candidates, who have not submitted their qualifying exam results at the time of submission of
application, shall give an undertaking with the hard copy of the application stating I may be allotted a seat
based on my SAT Subject Test score. I shall submit my qualifying examination grades at the time of admission
or within the specified date. In case, if I am unable to submit the grades within the stipulated time/ or not

meeting the academic eligibility, I am liable for termination / forgo my seat from the admitted institute and
willing to forfeit the tuition fee paid along with the application.
2.3.2 Mode of Refund
All refunds will be through SWIFT transfer only. The candidate should submit the request letter for Cancellation of
Application/ Allotment/ Admission for DASA 2014-15 and refund remittance particulars using the prescribed pro
forma given in Appendix-II.
Note :
i. The registration fee of US$ 250 in all cases will be non-refundable.
ii. All refund requests will be processed only after the completion of the entire admission process.
iii. Refund will be made only in US Dollars to candidates who have paid the initial fee in US Dollars and in
Indian Rupees to those who have paid fee in Indian Rupees. Transfer charges as applicable will be deducted
from the amount to be refunded.
iv. In the case of applicants who have made the initial payment in US Dollars through e-payment, the
equivalent foreign exchange (USD) of the Indian Rupees (INR) credited to DASAs bank account at the time
of payment of fees only would be considered to compute the eligible amount. The maximum refund will be
limited to the eligible refund amount in USD
v. In the case of applicants who have made the initial payment in US Dollars through Swift Transfer, the
equivalent foreign exchange (USD) of the Indian Rupees (INR) as per Swift credit advise memo recei ved
from the beneficiarys (DASA) bank at the time of payment of fee only would be considered to compute the
eligible amount. The maximum refund will be limited to the eligible refund amount in USD.
vi. All requests for refund should be submitted in prescribed pro forma (Appendix-II) with the signature of the
candidate. Request through email will not be considered.
2.4 Submission of Application
The submission of application is a two stage process, both of which are essential.
a. Online application (http://www.dasanit.org) and submission of signed print copy of the application along with
required documents and payment details to DASA Office, NITK Surathkal
b. SAT subject test score to be sent to NITK Surathkal through College Board, USA (Institute Code 6530)
Online Application
We recommend use of Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox browser while using the DASA admission portal. Internet
Explorer (IE) is not recommended.
The Online process involves the following steps:
2.4.1. Registration:
Create an account at http://www.dasanit.org by entering the following details to register:
i. Username (to be chosen by the candidate)
ii. Email ID (valid email ID to which a web link will be mailed to complete the registration process)
iii. Captcha words (in the space provided)
iv. Once correct details are entered, click Create my account
v. An email will be send to your email address with a link to complete the registration. Check your email and click
the weblink.
vi. Enter Applicant ID (given in the email)
vii. Enter Password (preferably a combination of uppercase, lowercase, number and symbol to be chosen by the
candidate)
viii. Confirm Password
ix. Once correct details are entered, registration is complete.

x. Candidates are advised to note the Applicant ID and password for future logins (for completing the application
form and checking the status of the application etc) and to keep it confidential.
2.4.2 Application filling and submission:
The recommended sequence for filling the application form is given below.
Once an account is created candidates should Login using email address and Password.
i. Candidates should first upload their latest passport size photograph in JPG format (size ~ 3.5cmx3.5cm,
file size < 100kB, you may use any image editing software like Microsoft Paint to resize your
photograph. This photograph will appear on your admission order hence use a photograph with
sufficient clarity and contrast)
ii. Click Next, to start filling application.
iii. Candidates are advised to fill the application with the following details.

Institute & Course Choices You can enter up to 30 choices which can be of any
combination of Institutes and / or courses of your choice
in the order of priority (first being the highest
priority). Candidates are strongly advised to fill the
choices only after going through the websites of Institutes
of their interest.

This completes the filling of the details in the online application form. The process of submission of
application is given below.
iv. Candidates are advised to click Preview Application Form button to preview the form and ensure
that all the required details have been provided correctly. In case, there are some corrections to be
made, candidates can click the Edit the Application Form button and edit the application. After
ensuring that all the data provided are correct and in the required format the candidate should click
the Submit the online application Form button to submit the online application. The submitted
online application should be printed by making use of the Download Application Form button.
Candidates should print at least two copies of the submitted online application form and are
advised to use one copy for submission as explained below, and keep the other copy for their own
records.
Note:
i. If a candidate is unable to fill the online application in one session, he / she can do it in subsequent
sessions and complete it.
ii. Once the online application is submitted, the candidate will not be able to modify any of the data in
the application form.
Submission of hard copy of the application along with required documents
The process to be followed during the submission of hard copy of the application is given below:
The printed application form should be duly signed by the candidate and parent / guardian.
Affix a recent Passport size photograph (3.5 cm x 3.5 cm) in space provided in the printed application
form, preferably same as the photo uploaded in the application portal

Eligible candidates who have appeared/are appearing for the qualifying examination during the academic year
2013-14 can also apply by submitting the completed application form along with the registration fee, first
semester tuition fee and other documents. In any case, the candidates are to ensure that the completed and

candidate is not able to produce the required documents for academic eligibility within the specified time.
Note:
i. The transcripts / marks / grade sheets of the qualifying examination should be self attested.
ii. If any supporting documents are in languages other than English or Hindi, authenticated translated copy of
the documents in English or Hindi must also be provided.

Candidates should submit authenticated residential proof documents at the time of admission failing
which the provisional admission granted would be cancelled. Hence candidates from Nepal applying
under DASA Scheme 2014-15 are strongly advised to start the authentication process immediately by
contacting the office of Embassy of Nepal at New Delhi or Embassy of India in Kathmandu, Nepal at the
earliest, so that they will be able to submit the authenticated residential proof certificates at the time of
admission.
2.5 Last Date for receipt of Application form
Last date for receipt of completed application form along with required fee and supporting documents at DASA Office,
NITK Surathkal is 17:00HRS (IST) May 31, 2014.
The applications of candidates whose SAT Subject Test scores are not received, for any reason whatsoever, by May 31,
2014 will not be considered for allotment of seats in the first three rounds. However, their application may be
considered for allotment of seats in Round 4 and Spot round against the seats remaining vacant.
2.6 Seat allotment procedure
Seat allotment will be strictly based on valid SAT Subject Test scores and the choices given by the candidate in the
order of their merit and priority taken together.
2.6.1 Consideration of SAT Subject Test Scores
Only those candidates whose valid SAT subject test scores have been received by NITK, Surathkal directly from
College Board would be considered for the preparation of merit list subject to their satisfying all other
requirements. In case of candidates who have made multiple attempts, the best of the valid individual subject
scores communicated by College Board will be used to compute the total SAT subject test scores.
2.6.2 Preparation of Merit List
A merit list of all the eligible candidates would be drawn on the basis of total SAT Subject Test scores only. Only
those candidates whose valid SAT Subject Test scores have been received by NITK, Surathkal, on or before May
31, 2014 directly from College Board, will be considered for merit list preparation and seat allotment. If the SAT
Subject Test scores (total) of two or more candidates are same, the inter se merit of such candidate shall be
determined as follows
By marks obtained in SAT Subject Test Maths Level 2 and then Physics. In case the tie is not broken by the
above consideration then the date of birth of the candidates will be compared and older candidate will be
given higher merit.
The decision of DASA 2014-15 Core Committee in this regard shall be final and binding on all concerned.
2.6.3 Allotment of Institutions and Courses
Based on the merit list drawn as above, the allotment of Institution and course would be made as per the choices
indicated by the candidate in his/her application form. A candidate appearing higher on merit list would get
higher priority in allotment of course / Institution of his / her choices as compared to a candidate appearing lower
in the merit list. In case, Institute/course of first preference indicated by the candidate are not available, he/she
will be allotted the 2
nd
preference (Institute / course) and so on. Such of those candidates who have not been
allotted any seat will be indicated as Not allotted in the allotment list. In such cases, the candidates will be eligible
for Round 2, Round 3 and Round 4 of allotment against vacancies.
2.6.3.1 First Round of Allotment (Round 1)
All eligible candidates would be considered for first round of allotment. First round of allotments shall be
displayed on DASA 2014-15 applicant portal (www.dasanit.org) on June, 07, 2014. No individual allotment
letters/email will be sent to candidates who get a seat allotment. The candidates are strongly advised to
check the web announcements on allotments. DASA 2014-15 Coordinating Institute, NITK Surathkal would
not be responsible for any delay in checking the applicant portal by the applicants. Candidates who are
allotted seat in Round 1 are required to confirm their options on or before 17:00 HRS (IST) on June 12,
2014.

Candidates who are allotted their first choice of Institute/ course in Round 1, would have two options

Candidates who are allotted any choice of Course/Institute other than the first choice in Round 1, would

automatically forfeit his/her claim on the seat previously allotted i.e. the candidate cannot have the
liberty of choosing between the seats allotted in successive rounds. In case, no up gradation takes place
due to unavailability of vacancies in the higher choices during Round 2, the allotment in Round 1 will be
retained.

20, 2014. The candidates are strongly advised to check the web announcements on allotments. DASA

applicant portal by the applicants. Candidates who are allotted seat in Round 3 are required to confirm
their options on or before 17:00 HRS (IST) on June 23, 2014.

the time of filling the application and be considered in Round 4 allotment. The Provisional Allotment Letter

allotted in Round 3. A re-registration fee of US$250 (US Dollars Two hundred and fifty only) is to be paid
for the choice change. Candidates taking this option should specifically note that, depending on their
merit (based on SAT Subject Test Score) and modified choices; they may or may not get a seat in Round
4 of allotment.
Press Decline if you do not wish to accept the allotted Institute/Course and Seat Cancellation/ Withdrawal
letter would be generated. You are eligible to re-register for the Round 4 and Spot Round. The seat so
vacated would be available for re-allotment in subsequent rounds for other eligible candidates. A signed
copy of this seat cancellation letter along with the application for cancellation of Allotment and refund Pro
forma (Appendix II) has to be posted to DASA Office, NITK Surathkal, Mangalore 575025 within two weeks
from date of allotment.
Those candidates, who fail to confirm their options on or before 17:00 HRS (IST) on June 23, 2014,
would be presumed to be not interested for admission in the allotted Institution/ course. The seat so
vacated would be available for re-allotment in subsequent rounds for other eligible candidates. They are
eligible to re-register for Round 4 and Spot Round.
Candidates who are NOT allotted a seat in Round 3 but would like to participate in Round 4 would have
two options
Press Round 4 without choice change (Not Allotted) if you are interested to be considered in Round 4
allotment for up gradation of Institute/ course as per the original choices given at the time of filling the
application.
Press Round 4 with choice change (Not Allotted) if you are interested to change the original choices you
have given at the time of filling the application and be considered in Round 4 allotment.
Those candidates, who fail to confirm their options on or before 17:00 HRS (IST) on June 23, 2014,
would be presumed to be not interested to be considered for Round 4. They are eligible to re-register for
Round 4 and Spot Round.
2.6.3.4 Fourth Round of Allotment (Round 4)
Candidates who have opted for Round 4 after Round 3 allotment are considered for Round 4 allotment.
Candidates who were not eligible for allotment in the earlier rounds and have become eligible later can
register for Round 4. Applicants who have declined their allotments or withdrawn/cancelled their
applications are eligible to re-register for Round 4 after paying a re-registration Fee of US$ 250 (US Dollars
Two hundred and fifty only). New applicants (applicants whose completed application forms have not
reached DASA office, NITK Surathkal on or before May 31, 2014) who meet the academic and residential

eligibility requirements are also eligible to register for Round 4. Interested candidates who wish to
participate in Round 4 must send SAT scores through College Board to NITK Surathkal (Institute Code 6530)
so as to reach NITK Surathkal on or before 17:00 HRS (IST) July 01, 2014. Valid SAT subject test scores of
SAT subject tests administered by College Board prior to May 31, 2014 will only be considered for Round 4.
More details regarding how to register Round 4 will be announced in the DASA 2014-15 website on June 24,
2014. The online portal will be opened for modifying choices and payment of required fees for registered &
eligible applicants from June 28, 2014 to July 02, 2014. The fees can be paid either through SWIFT Transfer or
E-payment only. Candidates can enter up to 30 choices which can be of any combination of Institutes and/or
courses of your choice in the order of priority from the list of courses given in Appendix IV. New Applicants
who would like to be considered for Round 4 need to come in person to DASA office, NITK Surathkal,
Mangalore between July 01 to 03, 2014 for submission of hard copy of the application and verification of
documents. New applicants should bring all the original documents and proof of all academic and residential
credentials for verification. Please note that the physical presence of all new applicants is essential for Round 4
All eligible candidates who have opted for Round 4 would be considered for seat allotment in the fourth
round as per inter se merit. Fourth round of allotments shall be displayed on DASA 2014-15 applicant

re-register for Spot Round.
2.6.3.5 Provisional admission letters and reporting to allotted Institutions
Only the list of candidates, who are allotted specific Institutions/ courses as per the allotment list and from
whom the acceptance of the seat allotment has been received within the specified time frame, will be
forwarded to concerned Institution for granting provisional admission. Candidates are strongly advised to
check the status of their allotment on the specified dates without fail. Provisional Admission Letter is to be
submitted to the Allotted Institute at the time of Admission (July 14-17, 2014).
After four rounds of allotment, provisionally selected candidates have to report to allotted Institutes for
admission during July 14, 2014 to July 17, 2014. All admissions would be subject to the verification of
original certificates / documents and satisfactory physical fitness as prescribed by the concerned
Institutes during the time of admission.

2.6.4 Internal Sliding
All the participating Institutes would be requested to conduct internal sliding on July 18, 2014 on the basis of inter-se
merit and choice for internal sliding indicated by the applicant at the time of admission for vacancies that exist in the
particular institute on completion of admission process. After the internal sliding is completed, the participating
Institutes will notify the vacancy status to DASA Office at NITK Surathkal.
2.6.5 Spot Round
Seats remaining vacant after the internal sliding in respective Institutes will be displayed on the DASA 2014-15 website
on July 21, 2014. Candidates who have not got any allotment in the earlier rounds and those who were not eligible
for allotment in the earlier rounds and have become eligible later can register for Spot round. Applicants who
have declined their allotments or withdrawn/cancelled their applications are eligible to re-register for Spot round
after paying a re-registration Fee of US$ 250 (US Dollars Two hundred and fifty only). Applicants who have got
admitted to the allotted Institute have to withdraw their admission before internal sliding if they would like to
participate in Spot Round. New applicants who meet the academic and residential eligibility requirements are also
eligible to apply. Interested candidates who wish to participate in this Spot round must send SAT scores through
College Board to NITK Surathkal (Institute Code 6530) so as to reach NITK Surathkal on or before July 23, 2014. Valid
SAT subject test scores of SAT subject tests administered by College Board prior to June 30, 2014 will be considered
for Spot Round.
More details regarding how to register for Spot Round will be announced in the DASA 2014-15 website on July 15,
2014. The online portal will be opened for modifying choices and payment of required fees for registered &
eligible applicants from July 21, 2014 to July 23, 2014. The fees can be paid either through SWIFT Transfer or E-
payment only. Spot round is likely to be conducted on July 25, 2014 at NITK Surathkal. Candidates should bring all the
original documents and proof of all academic and residential credentials for verification. Please note that candidates
who meet all the eligibility requirements of DASA 2014-15 and have all required original documents should only
participate in this SPOT admission round and the physical presence of the applicant is essential for Spot Round. Those
candidates provisionally selected for admission through the Spot round would have to report for admission in allotted
Institutes between July 28, 2014 and July 30, 2014. Candidates who are allotted a seat in Spot round as per their
choices and do not accept the allotment (decline or no response within the prescribed time limit) will not be
eligible for any refund.
3. MISCELLANEOUS INFORMATION
Following information is for the benefit of candidates who are taking admission in an Institute
3.1 Visa Requirement
All selected Foreign nationals (excluding PIO card holders) must obtain a valid student visa issued by the Indian
Missions abroad. The visa can be obtained by producing the provisional admission letter and other required
documents at the Indian Missions located in their respective country.
3.2 Medical Examination
The candidates, in their own interest, are advised to ensure that they are medically fit to pursue the prescribed
course of study. The candidates would be required to submit the Medical Certificate from an Authorised Medical
Practitioner in their home country or India for General Fitness. Alternatively, the candidates would be required to
undergo a Medical Fitness Test at the time of reporting at concerned Institute. Please note that if the candidate is
not medically fit, his / her admission is likely to be rejected.
3.3 Reporting at the Institute
Candidates who have been provisionally allotted a seat in an Institution in the first three Rounds have to report
for admission in these Institutions during July 14, 2014 to
July 17, 2014. Generally, the academic session at each
Institute begins in the 3

week of July. The details regarding the documents / certificates to be submitted at

the time of reporting at the Institute can be checked with respective Institutes. Candidates should submit the
original marks card of the qualifying examination at the time of admission at the allotted Institute or submit
within the dates specified by that Institute.
3.4 Branch change
Branch change requests received after all DASA 2014-15 admissions are over will be considered only at the end of
first year as per concerned Institutes rules/norms for Branch Change applicable for students admitted under
DASA Scheme.
3.5 Academic Regulations, Placement and Internship
Potential candidates should visit the websites of individual Institutes or directly approach the authorities of the
concerned Institutes for details on Academic Regulations, Placement and opportunities for internship.
3.6 Accommodation
Most of the Institutes are residential and the candidates are required to reside in the campus. The hostels are
generally well-equipped with amenities such as reading room, dining hall, etc. Potential candidates should visit
the websites of individual Institutes or directly approach the authorities of the concerned Institutes for details of
fees, residential requirements, etc.
3.7 Medium of instruction:
English is the medium of instruction at all the Institutes.

Note: All decisions of DASA 2014-15 CORE COMMITTEE regarding admissions under DASA Scheme
2014-15 shall be final and binding. Disputes if any, relating to the admissions under DASA Scheme 2014-
15 organized by NITK Surathkal shall be subject to jurisdiction of The High Court of Karnataka,

Details of Qualifying Examination
For admission to undergraduate courses in Engineering/Architecture/Planning, Universities/ Institutes in India
require the candidates to have completed at l east 12 years of schooling (equivalent to 10+2 system of Indian
Education). Candidate should have completed successfully Mathematics, Physics and one of the subjects from
(Chemistry, Bio-technology, Computer Science, Biology) in 11

stage qualification of an Indian Board giving access to the Bachelor Degree programme at Indian Universities. In case
