EE 117: ENGINEERING MECHANICS I, TUTORIAL NO. 3 SEMISTER2; 2013/14

1. Determine the magnitude of the moment
produced by the force of F = 200 N about the hinged
axis (the x axis) of the door.

2. The turnbuckle is tightened until the tension in cable
AB is 1.2 kN. Calculate the magnitude of the moment
about point O of the force acting on point A.

3. If the magnitude of the moment of F about line
CD is 50 N.m determine the magnitude of F.

4. Replace the two forces and single couple by an
equivalent forcecouple system at point A.

5. Determine the force-couple equivalent at A.

6. A tension T of Magnitude 10 kN is applied to the
cable attached to the top A of the rigid mast and
secured to the ground at B. Determine the Moment Mz
of T about the z axis passing through the base O.
