Exposure to a diverse range of patients, ASA I to ASA VI. Pediatrics to Gerontology. Surgery experiences
include all disciplines; General, Thoracic, Colon and Rectal, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Neurological,
Ophthalmic, Oral and Maxillofacial, Orthopedic, Otolaryngology, Plastics, Urology and Vascular.
o Skills mastered include preoperative and airway assessment, airway management, induction
techniques, Miller and Macintosh blade, glidescope and fiberoptic intubations, anesthesia maintenance
with IV and inhalational agents, opioid analgesia and muscle relaxation administration. Emergence
from anesthesia, muscle relaxation antagonism, and extubation. Postoperative transport, evaluation,
PONV and pain management.
Cardiothoracic Specialty Rotation, March 2014-April 2014
Intensive experience with cardiothoracic surgeries such as CABG: on pump and off, aortic root replacements,
valve replacements: open and minimally invasive approaches, TAVR procedures, and cathlab laser lead
extractions.
o Performed placement of invasive arterial lines, double lumen central venous catheters, pulmonary
artery catheters, bronchial blockers and double lumen endotracheal tubes.
o Monitored and provided treatment of hemodynamic parameters with vasoactive drug titration,
evaluation and treatment of serial lab values, managed one-lung ventilation and facilitated the smooth
return of circulation after removal from the cardiopulmonary bypass machine.
Trauma Specialty Rotation, May 2014
Level one trauma center caring for emergent trauma victims with ages ranging from toddler to geriatric.
o Emergent intubations, management of unstable hemodynamic states with blood and fluid resuscitation
and cardiopulmonary resuscitation
Obstetrics Specialty Rotation, June 2014
Care of the pregnant patient requiring surgical delivery and pain management for those laboring. Diverse
patient acuity from non-complicated to high risk.
o Placement of epidural catheters, epidural, spinal and general anesthesia for scheduled and emergent
cesarean sections, evaluation and treatment of complications such as incomplete epidural pain relief,
postdural puncture headache, hypotension and postpartum hemorrhage.

Care of patients from neonate to adult. Surgical specialties included Orthopedics, Gastroenterology,

o Experiences at this level one trauma center consisted of preanesthesia assessment and physical exam,
induction, intubation, maintenance of anesthesia, emergence and post anesthesia care, emergency
trauma care, intravenous line placement, pain and PONV management, and organ procurement in the
pediatric patient.
