ISP- Independent Study Project
Mixed Media Series This Independent Study Project will encompass all that you have explored and studied in this course. This includes mediums, materials, artists, terminology, techniques and artworks. For this culminating project, you will Part 1: My Mixed Media Series Create a series of photographs experimenting with mixed media. We will explore a variety of examples/inspiration in class. You will choose a theme, topic or subject matter you wish to explore in detail. You will submit a series of 7-10 photographs illustrating your chosen subject matter. As the photographer, you will make all decisions, including the size of your photographs, if you wish to work in colour or black and white and how your final series will be displayed to the class. Part 2: My Personal Journey You will explore your growth, inspiration and challenges as a photographer throughout the term by writing a five-page paper. You will refer to key terminology, artists, techniques and use a minimum of five sources. You may refer to key photographs you took throughout the course and key areas of study. You will also discuss your future photography journey by including any upcoming subject matter/mediums you wish to explore. You will include additional images to back up your work. Checkpoint 1: You will write a one-page proposal illustrating the subject matter for your final project. You will discuss the elements and principles of design, camera angles, filters, camera type, etc. You must also include how you will make your final series mixed media. Due: Tuesday December 16th Checkpoint 2: You will submit three photographs you plan to use for your final series and your working title. Due: Tuesday January 6th Checkpoint 3: You will submit your personal journey final paper, properly structured, proofread and referenced. Due: Thursday January 15th Final submissions checklist: Your final printed series of photographs Your composition sketches Your contact information sheet Your artists statement (1 page double spaced) Your photography journey paper (5 pages double spaced) You will submit all work and participate in your final class critique on Wednesday January 21st!
