Kenneth Cope: The Pearl
Kenneth Cope: The Pearl
Kenneth Cope: The Pearl
by Kenneth Cope
Benjamin was reared among the great ones
His father rules a city in the clouds
With his mother right beside him
He's had a king and queen to guide him to
the crown
One day his father told him of the testing
How he'd have to face the dragon down
below
And retrieve a pearl of wonder
A jewel beyond all others
He said, return with the pearl
Brave your way through the maze of that
world
You'll have my honor
Return to my side
And i'll clothe you in raiment of light
Just like thy brother
Heir to forever
If you remember to get the pearl
So ben took his journey down through egypt
And lodged among the merchants by the sea
But he feared the stare of strangers
And soon gave into danger foolishly
He ate the food and wore the clothes of babel
So he forgot he was the child of a king
But his father knew the matter
So he sent a benefactor
With a message to awake ben from his sleep
Return with the pearl
Brave your way throught maze of that world
You'll have my honor
Return to my side
And i'll clothe you in raiment of light
Just like thy brother
Heir to forever
If you remember to get the pearl
The words struck familiar
His memory revived
