Introduction and basic definitions
(EOR)
1. EOR refers to any method used to recover
more oil from a reservoir than would be
produced by primary recovery.
2. Oil recovery by fluids not normally present in
the reservoir (excludes natural gas injection
and waterflood)
But, then there are other definitions
secondary recovery, tertiary recovery,
improved oil recovery

Defined by Lake as EOR plus additional
Primary Recovery
Drives
Water drive hydraulic connection between
the reservoir and an aquifer. The aquifer may
underlie all or part of the reservoir or be at the
edges.
Recoveries can be in the 70% range
Waterflood can be used to maintain pressure
