Subject: ESD rig in procedure

Purpose:
Secure well from line rupture and gas release.
Potential Hazards:

Gas release

Action:
1 Check the regulator for any damaged gauges
and missing parts,

Information:
1 Steady maintenance will keep system in good
shape.

2 Rig the regulator on the nitrogen bottle and


ensure that the thread connection it correct.

2 This will ensure that the nitrogen bottle and


regulator have the right connection.

3 With the regulator tight, turn the mechanical stem


type seat handle to take the pressure off the
outlet gauge.

3 This will ensure that the hoses do not get over


pressured.

4 Open the nitrogen bottle and pressure up the


regulator.

4 This will let you know how much nitrogen


pressure is in the bottle and if you need a bottle
refilled.

5 With the tee system on the gas out, Dial the


mechanical stem type seat handle to pressure up
the outlet regulator and pressure test the tee
system, Do not pressure test over the hose
rating.

5 This will let you know if you have any leaks in the
tee system.

6 Open one line to the emergency shut down


station and pressure test the line for 15 minutes.

6 Pressure testing one line at a time will let you


know if and what hose or connection is leaking.

ESD RIG IN PROCEDURES

Action:
When all lines have been pressure tested, Rig in
the ESD and pressure test it to ensure the ESD is
not leaking.

Information:
(note) Using a pail of water will help to check for
leaks.

You need three ESD stations, One at the nitrogen


bottle and two minimum 100 feet each. The two
ESD lines are to be run up wind, One toward the
lease shack and one toward the tank farm.

This will ensure that all areas of escape up wind


are covered in an emergency.

Attached is an example of one style of ESD,


Its maxim rating is 4500psi for line pressure.
