To create and implement an ePortfolio that outlines an afterschool program. The portfolio will
include program outlines, quality, philosophy, and fieldwork observations that build the
foundation for the program.

Have learned the basics of how to write and approach an article. These skills include
observation, catering to a particular audience, time management, ethics, research skills, and
interpersonal communication with subjects and the larger public.
Work in the major has strengthened my writing and communication skills.

These courses have provided a foundation to understanding how the education system works.
Educational disparities, equity, after school programs, policy, and public perception are only a
few of the topics I have become familiar with through these classes.
Work in the major has allowed me the opportunity to volunteer with children and gain firsthand
experience in working in educational environment.
Have learned the basics of child and adolescent development, which allows me to better
understand and approach children of different ages
EXTRA-CURRICULAR/VOLUNTEER WORK:
Turtle Rock After School Program

February 2015- Current

Volunteering with children from K-6 in an after school setting, activities include homework
help, free play interaction, and overseeing active and passive activities.
Allowed the opportunity to get a firsthand experience on how an afterschool program operates
through the interaction with staff and children.
Violence Intervention Prevention Program

Beta Theta Pi Representative


Representative from my chapter that works alongside other Greek organizations to challenge
the community to take a stand against sexual assault and related topics.
Through the program I must coordinate two educational workshops, including a collaborative
one, which provide education and insight on social issues that affect our campus.

Community Outreach Executive


My position requires me to present community service opportunities and lead participation in
sorority philanthropies throughout the year. Past community service collaborations have included
Human Options, Boys and Girls Club of America, and the Child Abuse Prevention Center.
Leading our chapters domestic violence awareness campaign, which aims to provide support to
survivors and highlight the communities that are affected. The opportunity allowed me to branch
out and partner with other organizations such as Human Options, the Child Abuse Prevention
Center, UC Irvine Campus Assault Resource and Education Center, and the UC Irvine LGBT
Center.
Creating Options and Conquering Hurdles Counseling Program

Training on how to be an active listener and effective communicator to be able to provide social
support and guidance to UCI students with family, academic, and/or personal difficulties
Learning how to help students set goals for themselves and monitored their efforts by planning

WORK-EXPERIENCE:
Panda Express

July 2014- Current | Counter Help | Irvine, CA

Employment at Panda Express has helped strengthen my work ethic. Working at UC Irvines
most popular dining destination creates an extremely busy environment. Aside from serving
customers, an employee from Panda must learn to manage their time and execute given tasks
with a high level of efficiency.
The store draws a high population of foreign exchange students. Regularly working with
customers who dont speak English has sharpened my people skills and continuously enforces
the importance of strong communication skills.
Health Career Connection Intern July 2013- September 2013| Intern | Rancho Mirage, CA
Interned with the Rehabilitation Services at Eisenhower Medical Center in the Outpatient,
Inpatient, Occupational, and Acute Rehab centers. Aside from standard work such as data entry,
maintenance of the office, and making copies and packets as needed, I was also in charge of
completing a handful of projects.
These projects included: updating the hospitals Job Function and Match tests, creating displays
for the Acute Rehab Center, and creating new work out pamphlets for the physical therapy
departments.
Green for Life Intern May 2012- August 2012| Intern | Palm Desert, CA
Worked with other interns to create community presentations on informing the general public
about energy sustainability, greenhouse gases, and eco-friendly tips.
Aside from presentations to the general public, I was also in charge of making presentations to
our group to practice our public speaking skills, doing research in such matters such as Electric
Vehicle Cars and the Salton Sea.

Customer service, opening and closing store, answering phone calls, maintaining general
appearance of store, serving ice cream to customers.
The position helped articulate my communication skills in order to be an efficient employee.
