RECOMMENDATION
October 6, 2013
To whom it may concern,
I had the very good pleasure to have had Kelly Bastyr work for me during the summer of
2013.
First, I should give you a little background. PromoWorks is a consumer engagement
company that connects brands with shoppers. Since 1999, we have been a leader in instore sampling and product demonstration events. Over the past year and a half, I have had
the responsibility of moving our company into the digital and social media arenas, merging
face-to-face engagement with engagement through digital interfaces.
Normally, what one would expect from an intern is someone who can help coordinate and
organize work, without much expectations for his or her ability to get it and be an integral
part of the planning, creation of ideas and implementation of programs. Im happy to say
that Kelly absolutely blew away those expectations.
From day one, she caught on and developed a great understanding of our business. Within
days, she was helping me coordinate production and communicate with our sales team.
Within the first couple weeks, she was helping to write sell sheets and sales presentation
decks. But, by far her biggest asset was her ability to bring brand ambassador and social
media ideas to the table that would be a big edge for our company over our competition.
These were not college student ideas. They were legitimate business-building big ideas
that showed her grasp of how to connect brands with target audiences, engage them,
create relevant communication, and build relationships and sales. One major idea was to
develop a college student led brand ambassador program to engage consumers with
brands on and around college campuses. Another was her plan to utilize social media to
help market PromoWorks and to help enhance our clients consumer engagement
programs.
Kelly was a tremendous help to me. I miss her dearly. I would love to have her back next
summer and after she graduates. I think the best thing I can say about her is that she was
more valuable to me than the full time marketing manager I had before her. She would be a
great asset to any marketing organization, especially one that is looking to keep thinking
forward as opposed to doing the same old same old and remaining status quo.

Sincerely,
Dave Musiel
VP Marketing
