The document describes an acetic acid-induced writhing test used to test analgesic effects. In the test, mice were pretreated with either a vehicle, various doses of phytol, or indomethacin and morphine as positive controls. They were then injected with acetic acid, and abdominal writhing behaviors were observed and counted as a measure of pain sensation.

Acetic Acid-Induced Writhing Test.
This test was conducted
according to the description published by Koster et al. [24]. The presence of abdominal contortions induced by an intraperitoneal injection of acetic acid was considered nociceptive behavior, characterized by abdominal muscle contractions followed by stretching of the hind limbs [25, 26]. For this experiment, groups of 8 mice received the following types of pretreatment: vehicle, phytol at the doses of 25, 50, 100, and 200mg/kg, indomethacin (10mg/kg), or morphine (10mg/kg). Thirty minutes after pretreatment, the animals received intraperitoneal injections of a 0.85% solution of acetic acid (0.1 mL
