SWOT Analysis and Plan

Kinesiology Career: Adaptive physical education teacher Career Situation to Analyze: teaching
environment
Strengths: (internal positive factors) being able to
change the environmental setting in which a child is
taught can enhance there learning experience.
Questions to Consider:
How large is my class?
How does indoor and outdoor setting affect
children with disabilities?
How sever are the disabilities of my
students?
What is it you do really well?
Demonstration and explanation. Being able to break
down a concept to that a child can comprehend it as
well and physically being able to demonstrate the
activity and create modifications based on the
students abilities.
What resources (talent/ technology/ equipment) do
you have that other dont?
As a personal trainer I have equipment that most
teachers do not as well as connections to a verity of
different specialist in the kinesiology field.
Opportunities: (external, positive factors)
Opportunities are external attractive factors that
represent reasons for you your business to exist and
prosper.
Questions to Consider:
Can I get outside funding from a sponsor?
Which equipment do my students benefit
most from?
What is it that people are saying about
you/organization in the marketplace?
The passion that is demonstrated in classroom and
outside the classroom to improve the wellbeing of
each student is amazing.
Are there opportunities to align with partners in the
marketplace?
With the development in todays technology new
equipment will soon be created that can help
students with disabilities grow not only in the
classroom but also at home with their families.
Is there beneficial legislation or any funding you can
pursue?
Companies like fast food organizations are
constantly targeted because of the outrageous
obesity epidemic that our society is facing, by
partnering with these companies not only do we
receive funding for our students but it allows
compaies to better their reputation in the eyes of
the people.

Weaknesses: (internal, negative factors)

Weaknesses are aspects of your business that
detracts from the value you offer or place you at a
competitive disadvantage.
Questions to Consider:
Can I assist student with severe disabilities
without the help of their aids?
How does the weather affect the students
learning?
What is it that you lack? (Resources, specific talent,
technology, geography?)
A classroom, many school do not have the room to
have a classroom that is designed specifically for
adaptive education.
What can you improve on?
Developing ways to create a secure learning
environment for my students.

Threats: (external, negative factors) Threats are

external factors beyond your control that could put
your business/organization at risk. You may benefit
from having a contingency plan for them.
Questions to Consider:
Will the school district continue to cut
physical education?
Will APE continue?
Funds?
What are your competitors doing better than you?
They are actively working with children with
disabilities
Have consumers buying/fitness habits changed?
The school district recently got sued because of the
lack of enforcement of physical education by
teachers. With the changes of common core
teachers have been focusing on a crash course of
common core and cutting physical education time.
As a result physical education must now be
implemented by every teacher.
What other factors are out of your control?
The funds that are provided along with the location
of a classroom, not all student qualify for APE yet if a
child has a learning disability how can we limit or
exclude them from the program. The districts cuts
that are all based on finances and recourses.
