This syllabus will be the plan for the course. It is not set in stone, as adjustments may be
necessary due to extenuating circumstances. The curriculum is aligned to the Ohio
Department of Education standards for Social Studies.
American Government

Welcome American Government! This class is required for graduation and is a full
year. It is the responsibility of students to meet the requirements of the course
which are laid out below. Stay on top of your work and you will be just fine. If there
are any questions feel free to ask, because the odds are that two out of the four
people sitting around you have the same exact question. Help me to help you!
Requirements:
1) Folder
a. To be turned in at the end of each semester
b. Contents and requirements will be posted on the board
2) Guided Readings and Worksheets Classwork, what is not
completed in class will be homework. This includes a variety
of exercises such as mapping, reading graphs, enrichment,
vocabulary, etc. (10 50 points)
3) Quizzes Sections, chapter, vocabulary, map (10 50) points
4) Chapter tests Open note and closed (100 points)
5) Projects Group, classwork, what is not completed will be
homework (Points TBD)
6) Semester and Final Exam
* Late work will be accepted no later than 2 weeks after the assigned date
* Not turning in work will severely affect your grade, so make sure you stay
on top of it!
If you work hard you will succeed. I will do everything in my power to help
you pass this class and make it fun at the same time. At the end of the day
however, it is your responsibility; but together we can achieve more.
