Spanish Immersion Programme 2015
A visionary school like DPSG never leaves a single stone unturned in
providing the finest facilities and utmost exposure to each and every student, which has aided in fostering personality development and overall learning. An initiative towards the same was appropriated in the form of Spanish Immersion Programme, from the 16th to the 23rd July, 2015. DPSG in partnership with Instituto San Fernando (ISF) Cadiz, Spain, undertook an initiative to inculcate an in-depth understanding of our pluralistic society among our students. A group of 12 exuberant students accompanied by two teachers, Mrs. Meenakshi Bhardwaj and Ms. Savleen Kaur, took part in the Immersion Programme, wherein the students were exposed to the Spanish language , culture, gastronomy and their way of living . The students sojourn with the host families and the lectures given by Spanish professors at ISF enriched their experience, as they were captivated with the culture and education in Spain. Each day provided the students a plethora of opportunities to learn, unlearn and re-learn. This experience enhanced their acclimatization skills as they were introduced to a culture and ethos, paradoxically different from that of India. Each and every day was power packed with substance and incitement. It was planned with an objective to make the children learn about the Spanish language and tradition, which was carried out with various activities like cultural exchange classes, interaction with Italian students, tap dancing / flamenco sessions, biking sessions, indigenous performances by the Italian students and our children on the beautiful streets of Spain and the enthralling street sessions wherein the students were taken out on the streets of Cadiz with a hand out and visited places of historic importance such as the Santa Cruz Cathedral and Ayuntamiento (town hall). The highlight of the trip was the Madrid trotting where the flamboyant architecture left everybody bewitched. Our coordinator Nieves Alcaron adequately briefed the students on the historic importance of monuments like Puerta de alcala , Palacio Royal , Palacio de cristal , Monumento A alfonso , Palacio de velazquez and many more . This Immersion Programme bountifully fed the curious souls of students. In the end I would like to acknowledge the constant support and encouragement by our Principal, Mrs. Jyoti Gupta whose endeavour is to
prepare each and every child for Life beyond school. As a team, we are indebted to her, for letting us reach new heights through this inimitable opportunity.
