    Thinking win-win is habit #4 of the 7 Habits of Happy Kids. Thinking win-win is the
    same thing as thinking about others. After all, life isnt all about you; its about all of
    us. Stephen Covey says Win-win sees life as a cooperative arena, not a competitive one.
    Win-win is a frame of mind and heart that constantly seeks mutual benefit in all human
    interactions. Win-win means agreements or solutions are mutually beneficial and
    satisfying. We both get to eat the pie, and it tastes pretty darn good!
    Discussion:
    Questions: What makes you feel important? What makes a good friend? Did you ever
    have something that other people wanted? Were you boastful about your possession?
    What does it mean to share? Show the students the cover of the book. The Rainbow Fish
    is a story about Think Win-Win.
    Graphic Organizer:

    Activities

    The fish has something that everyone else wants. Read the 1st page: direct
    students to fill out a graphic organizer to brainstorm words/ideas that describe
    the Rainbow Fish.
    Continue reading:
    Gather students at front of room and continue reading. After you have finished
    reading, emphasize that Sharing is good; being selfish is not. You cannot buy
    friends, but not sharing can cause people to exclude you if you are boastful of
    your possessions. We should think Win-Win, balance our courage with others,
    that way we all get what we want!
    Cause/ Effect Activity:
    Have students fill out cause/ effects of Rainbow Fishs actions towards the other
    fish.
    Rainbow Fish Art:
    Direct students to paste colored tissue paper pieces all over their fist. When they
    have it covered, give them foil to place on it. Direct students to complete the
    sentence strips and attach to the fish by string. As they finish, allow them to
    share their experiences with the class.
