I. Performance Objectives (Learning Outcomes):
The second grade students will be able to describe the structure of the comb, describe day
to day activities of honey bees, and name the four stages of bee development.

Honeycomb- material used to make beehive
B. Development
Show students a teacher-created PowerPoint that provides information
about what the hives are made out of, characteristics of the hive.
After the students look at the PowerPoint, the teacher will pass out a
hexagon shape construction paper template and the students will be
allowed to decorate their hexagon shape as they please.
At the end of the activity, the students will, as a class, put together
their hexagons.
The teacher will ask what do you think this represents?
The correct answer will be honeycomb.
The students will understand that it takes teamwork and hard work to
create a beehive.
The teacher will ask the students, did anyone become the leader?
Was it harder than you expected to put together?
C. Closure
As a closing to the Bee Science Unit, the children will be allowed to
review to for their test on the next day.
The students will ask questions about Bees, Body part, Lifecycle,
pollination, and beehives.
The teacher will provide feedback and answer questions
