Building the Glousterman

To begin, two sheets of 1/4 mahogany plywood are butt
jointed together to make a single piece 15 1/2 feet long. All of
the parts are laid out on this piece of ply and the pieces cut out
with a saber saw:

Once cut out, the

pieces all look
somehing like this:

Holes are drilled along the edges

of the panels and the hull is
loosely stitched together using
copper wire.

The wire stitching is then

tightened just until the
edges of the panels
cometogether to form the
shape of the hull.

A fillet of epoxy
thichened with silica or
microspheres is made
along every seam of the
inside of the hull. This
is followed by a
fiberglass tape to
strengthen the joint.

The same fillet

and tape
technique is
applied to the
exterior seams
of the hull, then
the hull
saturated with
epoxy inside
and out.

Rub rails are added to the hull and epoxied in place
