The design and construction of skyscrapers involves creating safe, habitable spaces in very tall buildings.
The buildings must support their weight, resist wind and earthquakes, and protect occupants from fire.
They must also be conveniently accessible, even on the upper floors, and provide utilities and a comfortable climate for the
occupants.

Emergency power
•Refuge floor is specially designed in high-rise buildings for the purpose of supplying a temporarily safe place for
evacuees under emergency situations.
•Under building code of Hongkong, china, australia etc, the provision of refuge floor has been a indispensible element
of high rise building design .
•Wind induced cross ventilation is an important design criterion of refuge floor , since it helps to prevent any
smoke entering to become persistent state remained (logging) on the refuge floor.
•Refuge floor should be provided at 20-25 stories .
•There can be no occupied accommodation or accessible mechanical floor ,except fire
services water tank & associated fire safety installation plant room ,at
