General
In order to give disabled people the possibility of calling for help in public washrooms, an emergency call possibility must be installed in these
rooms. An initiated call is signalled for example to the doorman or central control employees in this building both optically and acoustically.
Thus support for people in need of help is guaranteed. The Alarm Kit for Public Washrooms is the ideal solution for these situations. As a
complete system with pull cord, cancel unit and control electronics, as well as a power supply, these components are perfectly tailored to
each other. The installation of the Alarm Kit for Public Washrooms is very easy and can be carried out very quickly.
Functional Description
A call from a disabled person by means of pull cord can be acknowledged by the flashing of an integrated reassurance lamp and a corridor
lamp mounted outside of the washroom. The duty room unit installed in the control room or in a break room signals the corresponding staff
of the call optically via the flashing of a red control lamp and acoustically via a buzzing signal. The call can be fed into a building / hazard
detection system by way of an integrated, floating relay contact. The initiated call can be acknowledged at the duty room unit, i.e. the acoustic signal is temporarily suppressed. The call can be reset only in the washroom by actuation of the cancel push-button.
Unlike the clino opt 99 Alarm Kit for Public Washrooms (Part-No. 76910C1), the CL series Alarm Kit for Public Washrooms is not expandable!

General Information
Nurse call systems present an essential factor in washrooms of public buildings and offer disabled people the chance to call for help. Therefore a nurse call system must be installed in such rooms. When a call is actuated, it is either indicated acoustically or visually at the porters
office or at the information desk to guarantee immediate assistance.
The easy-to-install alarm kit is the ideal solution for this type of application, as all modules are perfectly tailored to each other and form a
stand alone system including pull cord, cancel unit, control electronics and power supply unit. The system can be extended, so that calls can
be indicated at diffenrently located indicator units.

Operation Manual
A call that is actuated from a disabled person by using the pull cord is indicated by a flashing reassurance lamp and by the corridor lamp. The
duty room unit, which is installed in the nurse station, porters room or any other common room, optically indicates the call by means of a
red flashing control lamp combined with an acoustic signal (buzzing). The call can be acknowledged at the duty room unit, with the effect that
the acoustic signal is temporary withheld. For call cancelling the cancel push-button in the WC must be pressed. If the call is not cancelled,
acoustic signalling is automatically reactivated.

With thousands of installations in different countries both inside and outside Europe, the clino opt 99 nurse call system is firmly established
in the market. The system completely complies with DIN VDE 0834 Part 1 and Part 2: 2000-04, and it can be applied in hospitals, nursing
homes, residences for handicapped people, rehabilitation clinics or sanatoria.
Function

The clino opt 99 system is an optical nurse call system, transmitting nurse call information to the nursing staff via corridor lamps, zone indicator lamps, information displays, display modules and when integrated in the system - via SMS to paging and DECT systems.
System Layout
The clino opt 99 system layout is based on a 3-level hierarchy. The zone level (ward level) consists of the zone databus, which presents the
communication platform for the zone controllers. Thus, calls can be transmitted between zones and wards within the whole system. The next
level is the corridor databus and enables communication within the ward. The components connected to the corridor databus are required to
link the call devices in each room via the bed databus.
Zone Databus
In the primary level, the zone databus connects a maximum of 16 zone controllers, which in turn are subdivided in three zones. Thereby one
clino opt 99 system can consist of 48 zones.
Zone Controllers
The zone controller is the central control unit which monitors and synchronises the complete bus system and at the same time represents a
higher-level connection to further zone controllers. It controls the flashing phases of the corridor and zone indicator lamps, as well as acoustic call signals. Thus, doctor, emergency, normal, remind and telephone calls can be distinguished. Each zone controller supports 3 subzones and has appropriate outputs for zone indicator lamps and telephone lamps, as well as a common malfunction message system. Further
inputs allow staff, meal and/or telephone calls to be coupled.
Corridor Databus
All display and control units of the patient rooms, duty rooms as well as of other monitored rooms and corridors are connected to the corridor databus. The electronic module serves as a room control unit and connects all call devices within the room. Information displays are
also operated on the corridor databus. As a whole, a maximum of 127 electronic modules with a maximum of 255 addressable modules such
as electronic modules, display modules and call modules can be operated on the corridor databus. Each bus device is allocated its own
address allowing individual identification.
Electronic Modules
The complete electronics required for call identification and call logging are located in the electronic module, which is used as the distribution point for the room wiring. Electronic modules can be used for the whole system. Various variants are available depending on the requirements defined by the customers. There are versions with 3 or 4 lamp sections, or without lamps and versions with and without radio function and bed databus or Presence II. Configuration data are stored in the electronic modules memory module and is, thereby, still available
when the electronic module is replaced. For duty rooms, special electronic modules with additional memory for configured zone linking data
are used.
Bed Databus
A maximum of 10 room components such as call modules and display modules are connected to the bed databus. Individual calls actuated
directly from the bed can be identified via the address of each call module. Electronic modules without bed databus only allow call modules
to be connected as closed-circuit monitored call push-buttons, cancel push-buttons as well as call / cancel push-buttons.
Room Equipment
Various devices can be installed in the rooms, for example, call modules, call push-buttons, pear push-buttons and pull cords for releasing
calls, as well as cancel push-buttons for cancelling calls. Patient handsets can also be installed. In addition to their call function, these enable
patients to listen to radio programmes. An auto-release plug mounted on the pear or multiple push-button, as well as on the patient handset,
prevents damage of the cord. The information stored in nurse call system with bed databus can be shown on display modules. Existing calls
are indicated according to their urgency in plain text. If there are no calls in the system, presences are indicated.
System Interfaces
Wireless paging or DECT-systems can be connected to the clino opt 99 nurse call system via the paging or DECT interface unit. Thus, existing calls on the nurse call system can be transferred to the staff pocket pager or DECT phone device, indicating type of call, room number
and bed identification if available. Additionally, internal signals, such as fire alarms or technical alarms, can be connected via interface units.
It is possible to connect the system to an Instabus EIB (European InstBus). Optionally, further third-party devices can be integrated in the
system and a call logging PC or a PC provided with a graphic display can be connected via a PC system interface.

System Safety
In case of power failure, calls are stored for approximately 24 hours. As soon as the power is switched on again, presences and calls which
were set prior to power failure are indicated.
In case of a failure occurring in the zone controller, the system operates in an emergency mode, which involves the functions normal and
emergency call, cancellation, presence indication and call transfer to rooms where presence has been set, as well as the visual indication on
the corridor lamps. The zone controller monitors all active units and displays any malfunctions as a collective message or as individual messages on the information display. The lamp outputs of the electronic modules are short-circuit protected. All electronic modules are fitted with
a self-healing fuse. This not only protects the electronic modules but also the equipment in the room. The electrical safety and EMC requirements of all the system components are in accordance with the CE directives. The IP protection classes indicated in the catalogue refer to
the completely assembled appliance including cover plate and mounting frames.
Maintenance and Service
The configuration module is connected to the electronic module via a service socket. The room numbers and, depending on equipment, bed
identification are allocated via this module. Additionally the configuration module can be used for service purposes.
A zone controller can be exchanged without difficulty. Thus it is possible to access the data stored in the network devices via service functions, so that a quick and easy recovery of the original configuration is possible. Only special parameters have to be newly entered. The electronic modules can be exchanged at any time without interrupting the system operation and can be used and/or exchanged within the entire
system in the case of standardized equipment.

clino phon 99 is the nurse call system with speech from Ackermann clino systems. Just like the smaller nurse call system version clino opt
99, it completely complies with DIN VDE 0834 Part 1 and Part 2: 2000-04. The clino phon 99 system can be applied in institutions, which
intend to improve the efficiency of their nursing system through speech communication. This might be appropriate in hospitals, nursing
homes, residences for handicapped people, rehabilitation clinics or sanatoria.
Function
clino phon 99 is an optical and acoustical nurse call system with integrated speech communication that enables direct call-back to the patient
or the nursing staff depending on who has actuated the call. Thus, time can be efficiently used and further assistance can be asked for if
required. In addition, the nursing staff can receive information such as other nurse calls, emergency calls and doctor calls via corridor lamps
and room terminals, information displays, display modules and SMS or DECT compatible devices. Besides enabling a speech facility in each
room, the system can also be extended by means of direct speech facilities at each bed to allow hands-free or discreet communication. For
this purpose, microphones and loudspeakers are provided at the room terminals, bedside electronics and patient handsets
System Layout
The clino phon 99 system layout is based on a 3-level hierarchy. The zone level (ward level) consists of the zone databus, which through its
fail-safe loop structure offers maximum safety and presents the communication platform for the zone controllers. Thus, calls can be transmitted between zones and wards within the whole system. The next level includes the corridor databus and enables communication within
the ward. The components connected to the corridor databus are required to link the call devices in each room via the bed databus.
Zone Databus
In the primary level, the zone databus connects a maximum of 64 zone controllers, which in turn can be subdivided into six sub-zones. Thereby one clino phon 99 system can be extended to 254 logical zones (sub-zones).
Zone Controllers
The zone controller is the central control unit which monitors and synchronises the complete bus system and at the same time represents a
higher-level connection to further zone controllers. It controls display messages, the flashing phases of the corridor and zone indicator lamps
and the acoustic call signalling. Thus, call classifications such as alarm call, emergency call, normal call can be distinguished. There are special signals for calls on hold and telephone calls. Each zone controller supports 6 sub-zones / organisational units and has several configurable inputs and outputs for status registration as well as linking to other third party systems. One speech channel is available for each zone
controller. A minimum of one master zone controller, which is designed for setting up communication with the nurse call server responsible
for the configuration and programming of the system, is required in the clino phon 99 system. Depending on the requirements, zone controllers are suitable for centralised or decentralised installation.
Corridor Databus
All display and control units in the patient rooms, duty rooms as well as in other monitored rooms and corridors are connected to the corridor databus. Depending on the type of application, the room control unit either serves as an electronic module for rooms without speech
facility or as a room terminal for rooms with speech facility. It is the connection point for all call devices within the room. Information displays
are also operated on the corridor databus. As a whole, a maximum of 127 electronic modules or room terminals with a maximum of 255
addressable modules such as room terminals, electronic modules, display modules and call modules can be operated on the corridor databus.
Each bus device is allocated its own address allowing individual identification.
Room Terminal and Electronic Module
The room terminal or electronic module for rooms without speech facility takes over total control of the call functions within the room. This
includes not only call identification as well as call logging, but also the presence function with call transfer for the nursing staff. For an efficient care service, the room terminals allow speech communication with patients or residents, as well as between the nursing staff. Answered
calls are acknowledged via the function buttons, whereby normal calls, as opposed to emergency or alarm calls, can be remotely terminated.
The room electronics also contain all the terminal points for the room wiring. This includes operating components at the bed, in the bathroom, as well as a corridor lamp connected to the room terminal - in the electronic module, the corridor lamp is already integrated. For controlling organisation procedures, the duty room is provided with a master station, which is connected to the clino phon network by means of
a duty room interface.
Bed Databus
A maximum of 10 room components such as bedside electronics including patient handset, call modules and display modules are connected
to the bed databus. Individual calls actuated directly from the bed can be identified via the address of each call module. clino phon 99 room
terminals as well as electronic modules without bed databus only allow call modules to be connected as closed-circuit monitored call pushbuttons, cancel push-buttons as well as call/cancel push-buttons.

Room Equipment
Various devices can be installed in the rooms, for example, call modules, call push-buttons, pear push-buttons and pull cords for releasing

with patient handsets can be installed at the patients bed. In addition to their call and voice communication function, the patient handsets

push-button, as well as on the patient handset, prevents damage of the cord. The information stored in the nurse call system can be shown
on room terminals and display modules. Existing calls are indicated according to their urgency in plain text. If there are no calls in the system,

System 99 CL picks up the thread here and embodies the characteristics of speech communication between service and patient rooms,
mobile call answering via a mobile terminal device but also the convenient forwarding of system messages within one organisational unit.
This concept is thus optimized for a smaller grade of extension. Furthermore, external systems (i.e. DECT message handling systems) are
connected to a central control unit especially adjusted to this system and which assumes the tasks of the clino phon 99 operating unit. Moreover, the System 99 CL central control unit takes over the saving of log files, DCF77 radio clock input feed as well as an optional remote
servicing access, in order to also be able to externally set-up the System 99 CL. The system configuration is carried out here via LAN using
an external PC (i.e. laptop), via which the respective configuration data is read, modified and written back over the System 99 CL central control unit. Thus, use of a costly operating computer is not necessary!
Application example
With a maximum number of four 99 CL zone controllers, which can each administer up to 50 active units on the corridor databus and a
maximum system size of up to 200 active units (room terminals, electronic room modules etc.), the System 99 CL fulfills the requirements
for smaller facilities to 100%. If no speech communication is required in patient rooms, the available system components of an Ackermann
clino classic nurse call system is complemented with the 99 CLm electronic room module. A completely cost-effective solution!

System Upgrade from clino phon 95 to System 99
For expansion and retrofitting, Ackermann clino has developed a comprehensive migration concept for the linking of clino phon 95 and System
99. The entire communication system can thus be serviced as one standardized system without output losses - a great relief in daily routine
of care-giving.
In the course of successive new occupancies of for example a nursing ward after finishing a restructuring or expansion, the existing System
clino phon 95 and the newly installed System 99 can be used together. This principle is not only transferable to smaller units but also to entire
building complexes. For nursing staff and patients, only the different patient handsets and room terminals indicate two systems. Interconnections on one floor, i.e. in times of reduced operation, can also be carried out using the migration concept independent of the existing
systems in the ward without difficulty.

telecommunication installation. System messages can be retrieved per mobile terminal
device via the telecommunication installation. According to the user configuration, incoming
system messages (i.e. calls, emergency calls, alarm calls) are dynamic ally allocated callback numbers. The information is transferred to the telecommunication installation and
displayed on the mobile terminal device via message transmission (only in connection with

The user-friendly control unit is suitable for actuating calls, selecting radio and TV channels
and switching the light on/off as well as for discreet communication with the nursing staff.
It is equipped with a clearly structured button panel and orientation / reassurance lamp at
the call push-button.
With the 2*2-digit seven-segment display, the selected radio channel, TV function as well as
the time (when available) is indicated. The patient handset is provided with loudspeakers as
well as a headphone jack (3.5mm jack bush). Its splashing-water protected surface (IP54)
can be easily cleaned.
The hook on the wall or at the bedside table serves as a handset retainer. The handset is
connected to the bedside electronics via an auto-release plug.
