Kingdom Taxonomy Project

Organisms are categorized into 6 kingdoms based on certain characteristics. Scientists look at
morphology (their structure), DNA, habitats, etc in order to place organisms into the correct
Kingdom. You are going to complete research on specific organisms within each Kingdom to
verify their placement within that Kingdom.
Formats:
Childrens Book (ex. Rhyming book, Flap book, etc must be informational and made for kids to
read)
Coloring Book (ex. Color by number and explain each part)
Website you can use your google account for this
Newscast must be able to include the organism pictures, not just talk about them
Infographic (like a large poster, but online) (Pictochart)
Comic Strip (there are ways to make these online, powtoon, etc)
Your Own suggestion? Must have teachers approval. NO POWER POINTS.
You must find examples of organisms for each kingdom. Try to get a variety of organisms. You
will have a total of 10 organisms.
Kingdoms:
1. Archaebacteria (1 example)
2. Eubacteria (1 example)
3. Protista (2 examples)
4. Fungi (2 examples)
5. Plantae (2 examples)
6. Animalia (2 examples) 1 Invertebrate and 1 Vertebrate
**No domesticated plants (crops/food sources) or animals.
What information do you need for Each Kingdom:
Directions: Define/Describe the basic features of each kingdom. Use your notes for this. You must include
this information in the section of your project for each kingdom.

Bibliography
MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A BIBLIOGRAPHY! Include any site you use, even if it is just the idea that is
used there.
Research Links
When using search engines (such as Google), use keywords NOT sentences or questions. For
example, to find out how plants reproduce, type in plants and reproduction NOT How do plants
reproduce? Use single keywords/terms and link them with the word and.
Also, be aware of the sites you are using. Make sure sites are reputable and reliable.
Here are some sites to get you started. You still may need to find others.

Choose 2 organisms within each kingdom Protista, Fungi, Plantae, Animalia to research. You may use your
textbook or the websites provided to assist you in selecting organisms. Locate the required information
about each organism. *You will need to fill this chart out for EACH Kingdom*

and organization of the organism
is there anything unique about
the cellular structure? (ex.
Chloroplast, cell walls made of

How does the organism
obtain food (autotroph,
heterotroph)? If it is a
heterotroph, what kinds of things
