analyze their data and have resources and references to back up their findings. Groups willl
then be asked to put their finding into a instructional media, such as a PowerPoint or program
that can be displayed on the Smart Board.

Technology Is Used to Support Student Learning in the Following Ways:

Students will have a rubric to go by to track the expectations for the assignment and so that they
can have a clear understanding of what the teacher is looking for in each category.
Students can and will be assessed through using a spreadsheet to track their involvement in the
progress and the data can and will be transformed into a line graph so that there will be a visual
model to see how the students have improved or decreased their involvement in the project over
the semester.

How the Teacher Uses Technology:

How the Students Use Technology:

Graphics will be used to give students a more

visual outlook on certain vocabulary words.

Notebook Layout will be used by the students

to take notes while the lesson is being
conducted. Escpecially while the PowerPoint
is being presented.

Time-Sequence Patter Organizer will be used

to allow students to visually put the sequence
of events of the Civil War into order.
Episode Patter Organizer will be used to view
different viewpoints of the Civil War.
A Cause and Effect Pattern Organizer will also
be used to view how certain events that
occurred before the Civil War impacted the
start of the Civil War.
Google Earth will be used to view certain
battle site grounds to give a more realistic
viewpoint of where certain battles took place in
the United States.
PowerPoint will be used to give facts and
general ideas about the Civil War that the
students need to know.

Students will bea sked to make a Definition

Frame for certain vocabulary words so that
they will have an understand of what the
vocabulary word means and how it impacted
or was implemented in the Civil War.
Students will also make a graphc organizer
throughout this unit so that they can
continually add and adapt it to what they are
learning based upon how the Civil War was
started, what impacted it, and how it came to a
close.
Students will also be put into groups and be
asked to make a PowerPoint on a certain
battle that took place during the Civil War and
will be asked to present it to the class.

Movies will also be used to give a viewpoint on

how society and culture view the Civil War and
how accurate/inaccurate the pictures are.
Students will be asked either to do this
activiity independently or in groups depending
on the pergotive of the teacher.

Classroom Management Techniques:

Students will have time every week to go to the computer lab and work on their projects.
Wednesdays will be reserved for the computer lab. If students are allowed to have
computers/liPads in the school, they will also have time throughtout the semester/school year to
work on their projects.
If a group is comfortble with it, a student may work on the project at home for his/her group.
Only if everyone in the group is comfortable with it.
Preparation Before Class:
Students will be given a mini lesson on Internet safety and how to cite sources. I will portray
this, as a teacher, throughout my PowerPoints to give students an example and a model to go
by when they have to cite their sources on their projects.

Instruction: The students will be presented with the information through a PowerPoint mainly,
and other technological medias will be used as well, such as Google Earth, sequence patterns,

guide which events happened first and how they impacted both the North and the South in that
current time period.
Independent Activity: Students will be asked to make a PowerPoint on a certain battle that
took place during the Civil War. Students will be asked to display graphics and other
