Read the passage below and answer the questions correctly.

Mahsuri was the only daughter of Mak Alang and Pak Andak. They lived by the
paddy fields where Pak Andak tilled every day. Amidst quaint huts and golden
fields, Mahsuri had the happiest of childhoods and brought sunshine and
warmth to the hearts of all the villagers. She was the pride and joy of her
father and mother and grew lovelier each passing day.
Ever unassuming, Mahsuri won the hearts of many who marvelled at her
gentle ways and honourable heart. Finally, Wan Darus, the village warrior and
brother to the chieftain, was bold enough to woo Mahsuri. They married and
their union was blissful.
Yet in their midst, Wan Mahora, wife of the chieftain, Datuk Seri Karma Vijaya,
was jealous of for Mahsuris popularity. She was always contriving to send Wan
Darus off to war. When trouble loomed from the Siamese borders, she
persuaded her husband to send the strong Wan Darus to lead a small party to
safeguard the coast.
Mahsuri was disturbed. Foreboding and fearful thoughts filled her. For three
restless nights, she could not sleep and finally she begged her beloved not to
go. But Wan Darus would not listen. Even when Mahsuri revealed she was with
child, he did not relent and was determined to protect Langkawi.
The boats had barely left the shores when Wan Mahora immediately spread
rumours about Mahsuri. Dark whispers of unfaithfulness brewed. When a
group of women observed Mahsuri and Deramang, a handsome stranger
passing through Langkawi, talking and laughing at the market, wisdom and
reason were forgotten.
The village folk, caught in a wave of righteousness, were wild with
accusations. Suddenly, everyone had seen or heard Mahsuri saying one thing
or another. The rumours spread faster than a forest fire. One day, after Friday
prayers, the villagers gathered at the market, cornered Mahsuri and accused
her with adultery. Mahsuri, who was heavy with child by then, pleaded her
innocence.
Even Datuk Seri Karma Vijaya was thoroughly poisoned by his wifes lies. He
publicly blamed Mahsuri for the recent hardships the villagers suffered. He
told the villagers that Mahsuri and her unborn child should die so that
Langkawi could be released from even more hardship.
Mak Alang and Pak Andak could not believe what they heard. Their attempts to
reason with the people failed. Sentenced to die, Mahsuri calmly told her
mother to accept her fate. Hearing her mothers cries and ranting, the
villagers began to feel sorry for Mahsuri. Datuk Seri Karma Vijaya, realising
that he was losing ground, hastily stabbed Mahsuri. White blood flowed from
her neck causing the villagers to draw back in alarm for white blood was the
true symbol of innocence.
With her dying breath, Mahsuri whispered a fate too terrible a curse that
would see seven generations of Langkawi suffer.
