Emory University Hospital 364 Clifton Road Atlanta, GA 30322 New Grad Nurse Residency Program Summer 2016 To Whom It May Concern: I am writing in response to your employment opportunity announcement for the residency program offered for new nursing graduates of 2016. I am excited to express my interest for career opportunities on two of the units offered through this residency- Neuroscience and General Surgical Floor. I chose to apply to this program not only because of the name Emory Healthcare gives, but also because of the brand that it promises patient-centered care with the most current and safe practices. The Emory new graduate residency program allows new graduate nurses several opportunities to grow and learn from the best and most admired professionals in the healthcare field. I aspire to learn from healthcare leaders that are recognized as role-models, mentors, and the inspiring to those around them. Nursing is a challenging profession, but because of my passion and new experiences in this field, I know I will thrive in this type of environment. I have gained many different experiences throughout my nursing career. I was fortunate to receive my preceptorship placement on a Neuroscience Progressive Care Step Down Unit. Neuroscience was not a topic that initially sparked my interest, but I wanted to work on this floor as I knew it would be difficult and challenge my critical thinking skills everyday. It was through overcoming challenges I faced on this floor that allowed me to grow, think quickly and safely, and continue to learn and provide the best patient-centered care. I also learned how to communicate and collaborate with other health care providers discussing plan of care, treatment options, and having opportunities to give my recommendations in relation to a patient situation. It was through this, I was able to build trust in my colleagues that built my interprofessional relationships to provide interprofessional care. My clinical experiences and education have provided me with the knowledge of patient safety, assessments, patient-centered care, following HIPPA regulations, utilizing critical thinking skills and creating a daily plan of care for the patient. My previous job and life experiences have taught me the skills of being a leader and the importance of setting an example for those around you. Being a leader is directly related to dedicating yourself to continuing to learn and commitment to personal growth. The knowledge I have gained through my personal, academic, and job experiences coupled with my passion for helping people, attention to detail, organizational and communication skills, and a strong desire to continue to learn everyday, will allow me to make a substantial contribution to Emory Healthcare. I am confident I would not only benefit from being a part of Emory Healthcare , but also be an asset because of the qualities and skills I have that can add value to this team. I value collaboration, hard work, and diversity, which are attributes that are continuing to strengthen throughout my nursing career. I would bring a dedication of providing the highest quality of patient-centered care at all times. Please contact me if there are any further questions. I look forward to speaking with you soon.
