LESSON: Lesson 1 The Cortuga Adventure
TYPE OF LESSON: Presentation of new information
TIME: 50 minutes
OBJECTIVES ( by the end of the lesson Ss will be able to):
a) Cognitive
- interpret a text in their own manner and tell a story in their own words;
- improve their notions about the natural world (environment, wild animals) and the artificial world
(broadcasts, TV programs);
- use correctly the Present Simple Passive in any form (affirmative, negative and interrogative);
- ask and answer questions;
- improve their critical spirit;
b) Affective:
- become more confident in themselves when listening, reading, speaking and writing in a foreign
language;
- develop their imagination, creativity and sensibility;
- handle borderline situations;
AIMS (by the end of the lesson the T will have to):
- improve Ss knowledge about some vocabulary (TV and radio related-words) and grammar
elements (Present Simple Passive);
- enlarge Ss communicative skills;

- make Ss active while solving the tasks through creating a warm atmosphere;
- make Ss realize the moral of the story: that telling the truth is a real virtue and that we must protect
the environment and the endangered animals;
- learn Ss to cope with extreme situations.
METHOD OF TEACHING: Communicative Approach.
TEACHING TECHNIQUES: prediction, conversation, role-play, choral repetition, explanation.
TEACHING AIDS: textbook, DVD World Wonders 2, worksheet, blackboard and chalk.
INTERACTION: T S, T Ss, S S, S Ss, Ss Ss.
KIND OF ACTIVITY: Whole class, pair work, individually.
ASSESSMENT: Ss will be assessed on class participation.
SKILLS: listening, speaking, reading, writing.
ANTICIPATED PROBLEMS:
- some Ss might have problems when working in pairs;
- a few among the Ss may be given supplementary explanations in Romanian.
