    locationhostedtwomovietheaters,oneofwhichwasAlHamraCinema,hencethenameofthedevelopment.Thisis
    anextensiontowhatoncewasaresidentialareaofAlMaqwaaAlSharqi(Ihopethatsthecorrectspelling)which
    housedsmall2storyhouses.
    Thisisoneofthebiggestweaknessofthelocation,sincethatimmediateneighboringstructuresareeitheroldhouses
    leftforruins,whicharerentedouttolowincomeexpatriates,oroftencheapverycommercializedresidentialtowers
    thathavesprawledacrosstheneighborhood,housingaslightlymoreaffluentexpatriatesandsomecompanies.
    Thefrontandmostluxuriousentrancetothedevelopmentisinfactstucknextto,notone,buttwooldruinedhouses
    thatarefulloflabourexpatriates,whichisoneofthebiggestvisualcontrastsIveseenever.Thatentranceis
    designedtoreceivethemostdistinguished,prestigebusinessmen/women,executivesandhighprofileguestsfromall
    overtheworld.Theyaregreetedwithruinsontheentranceofthemostexpensivepieceofpropertyinthe
    commercialmarketofKuwait.
    TheothersideofthisdevelopmentiswhatshouldbethemostluxuriousmallinKuwaitisalsogreetedwithafamous
    Indiancuisinerestaurantandthedinersuseitscommonareasbetweenthetwostructuresasaparkingspacewhen
    theyvisit.
    Theintersectionisamassiveunderdevelopmentforaprojectofthisscale.Trafficwillbeanightmaretosaytheleast.
    Noservicesroadisbuilttoservethisdevelopment,whichIbelievewillbeofimportancetomaintainthisproject.The
    biggestdrawbackthoughistheparkingbuildingwhichisonthebacksidewhichsimplylacksproperaccesstothe
    mainroadsanditsnotveryclearifthatparkingissufficientforthedevelopmentusersonceinoperation.

    photos,marvelatthemightofthestructureandappreciatethearchitecture.Theleftoverspacebetweenthe
    tower/mallandtheintersectionsimplyisthat,leftover,nothingmore.Itdoesnttakeageniustorealizethatthis
    towercanonlybeseeninitsgloryfromafardistance.Thatperhapsisoneoftheperksofitssheerbulkiness.Tome
    thetoweristoobighonestly,butthatsonlyme.IsntitashamethatnoonecansimplystandinfrontofAlHamraand
    gazeatitinfullandbeabletotakepicturesofit.IsaythisincomparisontoBurjKhaleefainDubai.
    TheBurjinDubaiisthetallesttowerintheworld,whichisdesignedbythefamousarchitecturepracticeSOM,which
    alsohappentobethedesignersofAlHamratower.OverinDubai,theplannerrealizetheopportunitythismassive
    structureofferfortourism,thustheycreatedoneofthemostdynamicwaterfountaininanartificiallakejustinfront
    ofthemainentrancetothetoweroppositetothelargestmallintheworld.Asfakeasitsounds,theplanningworks
    brilliantly,yetskyscrapersarefakeifnotdesignedoutofnecessity.Peoplegatheraroundthelakeandadmirethe
    notsoimpressivetowerincomparisontotheAlHamra.Thisisashame.
    Overall,Iamhappythattheyarebuildingit.Iamhoweverdisappointedthatthiswouldendupbeingawasteof
    moneywhenitcomestobystandersandregularpeoplepassingby.Touristswontbehappywhentheycomein
    masses,Theysimplywontbeabletotakepicturesofthemselveswiththistowereasily,Ifailtoseeadropoffpoint
    fortouristbuses.
    Kuwaitneedstowakeupfromitscomaandrealizeeachactionwouldhaveareaction,inthiscaseamassiveurban
    chaosinthecityinreactiontothismassivebuilding.
