Servicelearningreflection

Igor Dos Santos Monteiro served as the assistant chess teacher at Calcutt Middle School on Tuesdays and every other Thursday for at least 20 hours. He enjoyed both playing and teaching chess, so this opportunity allowed him to do both. As a chess teacher, he found it rewarding when students would question him because they thought he made a mistake, as it allowed both him and the students to learn. Even though he had more chess knowledge, he lost to students multiple times, which taught him not to underestimate his students. He encouraged students to learn from their mistakes and not give up, even when losing, as they could still end up winning.
