Chinese Calligraphy

The lesson plan introduces Chinese calligraphy to students. It begins by showing a sample of calligraphy and discussing how Chinese characters are composed of strokes. The teacher then introduces the eight basic strokes used in characters. Students practice tracing, copying, and writing characters using the strokes. For homework, students practice writing characters in pencil and create a project on the introduction to Chinese characters. The next lesson will review the strokes and prepare students to write characters with a brush.
