Statistics Project: Khizar Bin Nasir Salman Ali Ghause Ahmad

1. The document describes a statistics project analyzing sales data from a random sample of 15 individuals. It calculates the sample mean, standard deviation, and proportion of women. 2. It determines the necessary sample size for estimating the proportion of female salespeople within 2% accuracy at 95% confidence. 3. It draws systematic and cluster samples from the data and calculates statistics like means and confidence intervals to estimate population values.

1) Using the table of random numbers, draw a simple random sample (number of
observations = 15).Discuss the step by step procedure you used to draw the simple random
sample. For the number of sales calls, calculate the sample mean and standard deviation for
your sample. Calculate the proportion of women in the industry and a 95 percent confidence
interval for the proportion.

Procedure:

a) Starting from second column and first row

b) Selecting digits from 001 and 200 and selecting 15 random numbers from this range

6) Draw a two stage cluster sample (n=20) using each company as a single cluster. At the first
stage randomly select five of the clusters (or companies). At the second stage use a random
number table to select four elements (or salesperson) from each of the five clusters selected at
stage 1. Calculate the sample mean at a 95 percent confidence interval.

7) The sales manager wants to estimate difference in the mean number of sales calls for male and
female salespersons. Consider male and female salespersons as two populations and draw two
independent random samples of size n = 15 each. Calculate the point estimate of the difference in
the mean number of sales calls for male and female salespersons and a 95 percent confidence
interval for this (Assume that population variances are equal).
