Nuisance Intellectual
Nuisance Intellectual
Nuisance Intellectual
Buddha was on his regular tour of preaching mission and reached some
small village in part of Northern India. In that village, there was a half educated
man, and he wanted to defame Buddha by some crooked means. He used to
regularly attend the preaching meeting of Buddha and raise obnoxious question.
Buddha also did not mind, tolerated him and gave some answers to his questions.
One day, the nuisance intellectual became aggressive and started abusing
Buddha.
Buddha kept his peace, and remained absolutely silent. After the tirades
of the half baked intellectual was over. Buddha asked him, "Dear brother, what
happens if I do not accept your gifts?” Intellectual said, "It remains with me".
Then, Buddha said,” In the same way, I do not accept your abuses also, and it
remains with you”. By these words the Intellectual was transformed and became
a compassionate intellectual. Buddha had managed that nuisance man very
easily, but it will be a difficult task for us.
The point is that, in our life also, many fellows will be attacking us without
any valid reason. In such difficult times, we should remember the nuisance
intellectual and remain silent. Nuisance intellectuals are like barking dogs, they
will make big noise, and we will not be able to counter them. They may even bite
you, but the problem is we will not be able to bite back the dog. Only way to
manage a barking dog is to walk slowly away from that dog. You should not run,
if you start running the dog will think that he was right and will definitely bite
you.
