    Ozone is a reactive form of oxygen that is blue in color and has a strong scent, unlike ordinary oxygen. It exists in both the lower troposphere and upper stratosphere of Earth's atmosphere, where in the troposphere it acts as an air pollutant at ground level, and in the stratosphere the ozone layer protects life on Earth by absorbing harmful UV radiation before it reaches the surface.
