CITY OF NORTH BAY VILLAGE

TO: FROM: North Bay Village Residents Robert Daniels, Interim City Manger & Sam Zamacona Jr. E.I., Public Works Director TRASH MUST BE LEFT ON YOUR PROPERTY

SUBJECT:

____________________________________________________________________________________

During this time of green or environmental awareness the City would like to remind our residents that yard waste and other trash (not to be confused with garbage) must be left on the front edge of your property. It should not be left on the street or sidewalk - also known as the right-of-way. Trash deposited on the right-of-way can be blown or washed into the storm water system during periods of heavy wind or rain. Trash accumulated in the storm water system can cause drainage back ups and will ultimately wind up polluting our waterways. Trash deposited in these areas will be treated as a Code violation ( 94.02 Deposits on public property prohibited). Please make sure to inform your gardener of the regulations and remember: Only Rain Down The Drain. The following are excerpts from the City code as it pertains to trash pickups: It shall be unlawful to place yard trash (leaves, grass, vines, small clippings) other than brush materials, for collection in any front setback other than in a securely bound plastic bag or other containers. To qualify as brush material, tree branches, palm fronds and shrubbery shall be cut to a maximum length of three feet and a maximum diameter of four inches. Branches and stumps greater than four inches in diameter shall be cut to a maximum of two feet in any direction. Residents may put out no more than one pile of brush material each collection date, with the pile not to exceed a maximum of 3' 4' 5' in length. Brush in excess of 3' 4' 5' will be picked up by the City. However, the customer's sanitation account will be charged for the extra pick-up. Brush material shall be placed in the front setback on the day of trash pick-up (Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings before 9:00 AM).
