The sacrament of Holy Order confers sanctifying grace, imprints an indelible character, and confers permanent power on the recipient. A validly consecrated bishop is the ordinary dispenser of Holy Order for all grades. A presbyter, or ordained clergy member, can be an extraordinary minister for minor orders and subdiaconate. Holy Order can only be received by a baptized male person.
