Michael Carrigan, a Regent of the University of Colorado, writes a letter of recommendation for Patrick O'Rourke for the Colorado Supreme Court. Carrigan worked closely with O'Rourke when he represented the Board of Regents in a high-profile lawsuit. Carrigan believes O'Rourke has an encyclopedic knowledge of Colorado law and one of the best legal minds in the state. While Carrigan would miss O'Rourke as CU's chief litigator, he fully supports O'Rourke's application to the bench due to his skills, work ethic, and professionalism. Carrigan urges the governor to give O'Rourke full consideration for the Supreme Court position.

Hon. John Hickenlooper. Governor State of Colorado 136 State Capitol Denver, CO 80203 Dear Governor Hickenlooper: I am writing to offer my sincere support of Patrick O'Rourke for the Colorado Supreme Court. As a Regent of the University of Colorado, I have had the opportunity to observe Pat's legal abilities over the past several years while he served as the lead litigator for the University of Colorado. I worked closely with Pat when he represented the Board of Regents in the Ward Churchill lawsuit. He did an exemplary job representing the University in a thoughtful and respectful way. On many occasions I have turned to Pat for advice on complex legal questions and I am often amazed at his encyclopedic knowledge of Colorado law. Frequently, without opening a book or a brief, he could name the specific case and statute relevant to my question. I truly believe that he has one of the best legal minds in Colorado of my generation. From my personal observations, I believe he possesses the skills, work ethic, and professionalism necessary to succeed as a Supreme Court Justice. As much as I would hate to lose him as CU's chieflitigator, I am proud to support his application to the bench. I hope you give him full consideration. Respectfull ,
