Job Description
Summer internship programme (unpaid), Empower European Universities Empower European Universities is a Non-Governmental Organization set up by Professor Jo Ritzen, with the support of Baroness Tessa Blackstone and Magyar Blint. This pan-European NGO fights for better universities in Europe by producing policy proposals to influence governments and European institutions and generating evidencebased policies and reports. EEU is looking for summer interns to assist in implementing its program. This summer internship provides a unique opportunity to gain some experience working in a pan-European NGO, with an international team, to develop a network of high-level contacts across Europe, and to gain some experience of working in a policy environment. The volunteer will be a great team player, dynamic, proactive, creative, able to work independently in a flexible work environment and to keep a good sense of fun when working under pressure. This internship suits someone who is passionate about international/European public policy and seeks to develop a career in the field. We welcome applicants with a background in economics in institutions, policy and governance (preferably on the masters level at least/PhD level ideal). An excellent command of English is essential and an additional European language desirable. Summer interns will: Take an active part in fundraising, including assisting with grant applications as well as various forms of non-traditional fundraising. Assist in producing a book which assesses higher education systems across Europe, by contributing to editing and to generating background information. Become ambassadors of Empower European Universities across Europe. The location is at the Maastricht School of Governance. The appointment runs from the 1st of June 2012 until the 30th of September 2012 with a possibility of extension. Please send a CVs and a motivation letter by the 30th of April 2012 to eeu@empower.eu.
