Dose (usual /prescribed) & Route, Onset, Peak, Duration Dose: Usual- 40-120mg daily for up to 8 weeks Prescribed- 40 mg daily at 0800 Route: Orally Onset: 2.5 hours Peak: unknown Duration: 1 week

Nursing Considerations and Teaching

Adverse effects: diarrhea, headache, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain. Severe: allergic reaction, bone pain, chest pain, dark urine, fast or irregular heartbeat, fever, chills, sore throat, vision changes, yellowing of the eyes or skin.

Nursing considerations: Hypersensitivity to medication, must be used cautiously with pregnant or nursing women. Teaching: This medication is used short term and is not meant for long term use that is greater than 8 weeks. Tablets are not to be crushed, taken whole. Report any abnormal symptoms right away.
