1.1 statement of the problem Why is there a high incidence of street children in Newtown?

1.2 aims of the study The researcher wanted to find out: a) What causes children to be on the streets? b) What kind of activities are they involved in? c) How can Non-government organizations help to reduce street children?

2. Reasons for selecting the area of study The researcher selected this area of study because it was observed that there are a high number of street children and the researchers main objective is to find out how they ended up being on the streets. The researcher also wanted to find out how NGOs can aid in decreasing the number of street children.

3. METHOD OF INVESTIGATION The researcher used the questionnaire to conduct the study. The questionnaire was used because: a) It guaranteed confidentiality b) It was inexpensive c) It covered a lot of persons in a short period of time
