Next Generation(NG) Tesco Stores, UK & ROI May 2008 Till date Unix. Shell scripting Sybase 11.5

NG (Next Generation) receives sales information from upstream system POS (point of sale) which includes the products that has bought by the customer when they step into the store and step out and also includes the quantity of the products the customer bought and by what mode (either by cash or credit card or coupon) the customer has purchase the product and then classifies into various categories before sending it to various downstream systems. NG is a store based application residing over 2000 stores across UK, Ireland and France. NG prime function is to ensure all sales information is captured from upstream systems (POS), classified and transmitted on time to the downstream systems(Mainframe systems) and to enable products to be replenished at stores on time. ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES IN THE PROJECT: As a Team Member, Incident Management-Supporting the application by resolving issues related to the System and performing proactive daily checks. Resolution of Incident Records(IRs) relating to sales information and cash office queries and loss of sales data and retreiving the sales data if lost and resolution of batch job failures Monitoring of Overnight Jobs/Batches and providing fix during Out of office hours. Problem Management-Handling Escalations and providing regular updates to the customers during Business Critical/Major Issues. Being the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) role during Seasonal(Peak Business) activities like Christmas,Clock change and Easter. Writing shell scripts to implement Business Requests adhereing to Change Management Process. Implemented Service Improvement Plans to improve the peroformance of the existing system also involved in Identification of System Bugs and fixing them as a part of Service improvements. Attending various Meetings and Conferences with the Client and various Support teams for New Project /Service Introduction and understand new business ,process,impact to System and track issues and Log them. Tesco Back Office System(TB) Tesco Stores, UK & ROI May 2011 Till date Unix. Shell scripting Sybase 11.5

Tesco Back office Application is an Interfacing System in the Supply Chain System Of Tesco Retail.This Application is interfaced with numerous other Retail Application and essentially provides Product, Pricing and Promotion Info to the Point Of Sale. This is a Business Critical Application running distrubetedly in around 2000 servers/Stores. In the Current Scenario Tesco Back office Application is importantly used to ensure Price Integrity in the Stores. The Application provides an integrity between the Business & Point of sale(Checkouts). It receives Transmission Files from various sources, processes and loads the Information into the Database and then transmits the relevant information to the front end. (Mainframe Database Flatfiles) The Older version of TB system is unix based and the Tescos business decision to replace unix servers has resulted in porting TB Application running in AIX Unix Server with Sybase Database to Windows 2003 Server with SQL Server 2005 Database. This has been progressed slowly and steadily and resulted in number of new projects that affect the system directly and indirectly. Before the Decommissioning is completed .
