We are very excited to welcome you all to our Annual Open House this weekend! The Open House is always a great time and we hope you have made plans to join us! It is fun for the entire family. Please share the details below with your friends! Furkids has some wonderful celebrations and events coming up read on and save the dates! Thanks to our 50% off August adoption incentive, we are celebrating 96 cat adoptions last month! This week is National Adopt A Less Adoptable Pet Week and we are offering another adoption incentive! You probably didn't know that Furkids cares for close to 100 special needs cats and dogs on a daily basis. What makes a pet "less adoptable"? Please read below and see how we are trying to help these deserving pets find good homes.

This weekend is the Annual Open House at Furkids! We hope you are planning on stopping in and visiting with us! It is always a great time for the entire family and features: - wonderful cats and dogs for adoption! - the Bark & Bite Bake Sale (yummy treats from over 25 bakers, Little Cake Bakery and Highland Bakery)! - a delicious lunch by BB's-Q with vegetarian options! - moon walk and face painting for the kids! - free give-aways! Saturday, September 22 & Sunday, September 23 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. More details here Please come out and say hello to our cats and dogs available for adoption! It is a great time to bring an item with you from our wish list! We will also have our new box truck onsite to receive your donations for our thrift store! A yummy free treat to everyone that brings a donation! Also, the LifeSouth bus will be with us conducting a blood drive and talking with us about the importance of pet blood donations to help emergency pets in need. Adopt A Less Adoptable Pet Week & Adoption Incentive

September 17 - 23 is National Adopt A Less Adoptable Pet Week. Furkids is celebrating our less adoptables by offering an adoption incentive for pet parents to consider these very deserving cats and dogs! Our less adoptable pets are animals that have ongoing medical issues, FIV+ cats, one eyed, three legged, black cats and dogs, tuxedo cats, seniors, as well as long-timers at Furkids. Whatever their need is, we are happy to have them and to care for them each day but we would love to see them adopted into a forever home! These animals deserve a good home, too! Read more about our special pets here! During the month of September, our special needs adoption fee is $25 for cat adoptions and specified dogs are $50. Please help us spread the word by sharing with your friends and colleagues.

50/50 Cash Raffle

Furkids is excited to conduct our first 50/50 Cash Raffle! For only $5 a ticket, you can enter to win half the total amount raised! Our goal is $25,000! The winner will be drawn on Sunday, October 21 at our Strut Your Mutt Picnic and Party at Heritage Park Sandy Springs. This is easy! You can buy your tickets online here, or you can buy at our shelters or Petco Sandy Springs on Saturdays! If your ticket is picked, you win half of the cash and Furkids keeps the other half! Strut Your Mutt - Sunday, October 21

Join Furkids and SmallDog Rescue as we welcome our adopted alumni and the public to celebrate our pets in the beautiful Heritage Park in Sandy Springs. Featured Cat for Adoption - Sweet William

Sweet William is my name and being sweet is my game. And sweet doesnt even come close to describing how loving I am. I would make a great addition to any home. I am not very fond of kittens, but adult ladies are my favorite! I would love a home with a nice sunning window where I can work on my tan and watch a few birds and squirrels run around, but other than that just a nice comfy couch to sit on and watch TV with you would make me about the happiest cat in the world. If you would like to meet him, contact us to set up an appointment. I am a special needs kitty as I am in early stages of Renal Failure. I require fluids 3x week. Please consider sponsoring me.

Featured Dog for Adoption - Mersey

Mersey is a 40-pound beauty who loves an active lifestyle - running and jumping and taking rides in the car! She'll play in the water, too, as long as it's just a kiddie pool. As a Blue Heeler mix, she has energy and grace. She could well be trained in agility. Mersey is loving and loyal to her human friends. Her mostly black sleek fur features lovely white mottling. Ideally, she'd like to be the only dog in the house, but she might meet a match in the canine world. Smart and lively, seven-year-old Mersey has the makings of an excellent companion to the right family or person. She is best suited for a home with older children.
