1 - GENERALITIES
1 FUNCTION
Exchange of information type ON/OFF between two different goegraphical points of an electrical network, with compliance to the following criteria :
Minimum transfer time Security Reliability

Transfer time :

Total time elapsed between the acquisition of an information at the transmission side up to its restitution at the reception side, excluding the transmission support transfer time.

Security :

Ability of the equipments to avoid any restitution in absence of information at the transmission side, even in case of interference on the transmission support.

Reliability :

Ability of the equipment to restitute, in the appropriate transfer time, all the informations occuring at the transmission side.

1 - GENERALITIES
2 PRINCIPLE

At the transmission side the TA 314 convert the ON/OFF signal in a defined frequency signal with a value in the band of 0 to 4 Khz and send it to the transmission medium. At the reception side using sophisticated and accurate filters the TA 314 will identifiy the frequency signal and convert it in an ON/OFF output signal. The TA 314 continuously supervise the transmission support, transmitting a specific frequency signal in lack of input. This frequency is called guard frequency Fg. The TA 314 being able to transmit up to 4 different informations, there will be one frequency signal for each of it respectively called.

DC SUPPLY (SR 110)

The DC / DC conversion, carried out by a chopper regulator, provides :
+ 5 V with an accuracy of + 5 % + 15 V with an accuracy of + 5 %

The total power for the equipment is 10 Watts. The positive pole of the primary voltage (+ BAT) can be connected to the chassis ground by a strap. The OV of the DC / DC converter is always connected to the main + 48 V (+ BAT). A protection circuit guards against :
HF interferences Current surges Polarity reversal Brief power cuts (< 20 MS)

A voltage monitoring circuit for the + 15 V supply :

if V+ < +13 V or V- > -13 V a RED LED comes on the front of the module and the signal AL15 is sent to the UT 131 module for treatment.
NOTE:The + 5 V monitoring is carried out by the UT 131 module.

COMMAND INPUTS (SR 110)

The SR 110 has 2 command input. These inputs have a common point and will therefore not be electrically independent. The field access and the command electronics are separated by optical couplers. The command input might be controlled either by a dry contact or directly by a voltage. The two different options are selected by jumper on the module. In case of voltage control, the input voltage can be 48, 127 or 250 Vdc. The selection is made by jumper.

2.6

COMMAND INPUT REPEATER (SR 110)

There is one repeater relay for each command input. These relays are operated by a signal coming from UT 131 module (ROR1 for order 1 and ROR2 for order 2). The same signal also actuate one LED on SR 110 module for each command. One N/O contact of the repeater relay is available at the field connector.

2.7

COMMAND OUPUT REPEATER (SR 110)

As for command input, there is one repeater relay for each command output. The signals operating these relays (RCO1, RCO2) are directly issued from the signal operating the main outputs (COR1, COR2). N/O or N/C contacts are available at the field connector (selection by jumper). One LED for each output command is also available on SR 110 module.

2.8

TRANSMISSION AND RECEPTION ALARM OUTPUTS (SR 110)

There is one relay for each alarm. These relays are operated with a signal issued by the UT 131 module or by a polarized loop going through the field connectors (if any connector is plugged out, both alarm are activated). The actual alarm output is delayed by 3 seconds on pick-up and by 9 seconds on drop off, this to avoid transient fault or brief burst signaling. A LED is associated to the relay command and there are 2 N/O output contacts for each alarm (available at the field connector).

2.6.4 Frequency control

The guard signal FG can be generated either by the TA 314 or by an external source. In the last case, the equipment controls the command frequencies only . The blocking/boost signal is activated in the same time as the command frequency and for same duration. The command transmission can be extended by fixed 200 ms (transmission duration = command duration + 200 ms). On request the transmiter function transmits the link test message for a duration of 200 ms. Any command occuring during this test takes priority.

2.7

RECEIVER CONTROL

This function manages the frequencies filtering and assumes the recognition of commands, unblocking, test and fault conditions. 2.7.1 Recognition of commands
There is one independent chain for each command frequency, plus one for the guard frequency (filtering, detection, logarithmic conversion). If V is the amplitude of the guard frequency and C the command's one after processing, a command is detected if :

51

> Analog Teleprotection TA314 - 03/04 -

51

6 - SOFTWARE FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION

The logic condition C - V > K is continuously computed. Any change result in blocking signal for a T0 period. If command frequency is not detected after a T1 period following loss of the guard frequency, blocking condition is also activated. The transfer time, safety and reliability characteristics depend on the K, T0 and Vmax. parameters

52

6 - SOFTWARE FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION

2.7.2 Unblocking detection

This is an option which allows to issue a command on a simple detection of guard frequency level drop. It is selected by software configuration on a single command of "permissive" type. Principle : If the guard frequency level drop more than X dB from its nominal level for at least 10 ms, the command is issued for a duration of 200 ms. X is a parameter adjustable from 10 to 20 dB. It needs a period of one second after the guard frequency level recovery before initiating a new unblocking command.

53

6 - SOFTWARE FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION

2.7.3 Test message recognition Test message consist on the detection of 2 command frequencies and the guard frequency at half level of nominal value for a duration at least equal to 50 ms within normal mode and Fg + 6 dB within enhanced mode. 2.7.4 Fault detection Reversible faults :
Absence of guard frequency not followed by a command 200 ms later. Maximum received signal (command or guard) 16 dB below the reception nominal level, during more than 5 sec.

Irreversible faults :
In case of irreversible faults the receiver functions are no longer assumed.

LINK TEST FUNCTION

This function can be initiated automatically or manually by a push button. Following action are carried out by the equipment :
Equipment which initiate the test
Activation of test LED. Activation of the transmission blocking command. Transmission of the test message for a duration of 200 ms. Initiating a 200 ms timer and scanning receiver to detect return test message. If the message is detected equipment return to normal immediatly and test LED is turned off after 5 sec. If no message is detected, test is reinitiated after 10 sec. If 3 attemps fail, the equipment is set on irreversible fault condition and the test LED remains on.

Equipment which receive the test message

Activation of the transmission blocking command. Transmission of the test message for 200 ms. activation of the test LED for 5 sec. (enough long to be perceived by an operator).

Priority
Any command or fault detection get priority on test. The test is then purely abandoned. If there is a test request during a command or fault treatment, the request is memorized and will be carry on when the higher priority actions will be completed. Any test request during an irreversible fault condition is simply unrecognized.
