(Write the answers in the question paper itself. All questions carry equal marks.)
1. A strip of copper 1.5 cm wide and 1.0 mm thick conducts electricity I = 60 A flows in a B= 2.5T and generates VH = 0.74 V. Calculate the drift velocity and number density of electrons.

2. A charge of 2.0C moves with a speed of 2x 106 m/s along the positive x axis. A magnetic field B = (0.2 j +0.4 k)T exists in space. What is the magnetic force acting on the charge?

3. Two waves y1 = 30 sinwt (expressed in cm) and y2 = 30 coswt (expressed in cm) superimpose on each other. Calculate the amplitude of the resulting wave.

4. A steady current of 2.5 A creates a flux of 140 Wb in a coil of 500 turns. What is the inductance of the coil?

5. An electromagnet has stored 648 J of magnetic energy when a current of 9 A exists in its coils. What average emf is induced if the current is reduced to zero in 0.45 s?

6. An electron falls through a potential difference of 100V. What is its de-Broglie wavelength?

7. Green light of wavelength 540 nm is diffracted by a grating ruled 2000 lines per cm. Find the angular deviation of the third order image.

8. Define (a) Coercivity and (b) Retentivity of the material.

9. A ball of mass 100 g moving with a speed 8 ms-1 hits a wall and bounces back with the same speed. What is the change is in momentum of the ball before and after hitting the wall?

10. A 49 g mass moving with a velocity 36 kmph makes a head on collision with a stationary mass m and moves with 27 kmph in the same direction. Calculate the value of m.

11. Write Einsteins photoelectric equation and explain the terms present in the equation.

12. Photoelectric effect is just observed with Green light for a certain metal plate. When yellow light is made to incident on the same metal plate, can the photoelectric effect be observed? If so, why? If not, give your reason.

13. The potential applied between the electrodes is 140V. The magnetic field applied is 2 mT. The specific charge of an electron is 1.759 x1011 Ckg-1. Find the radius of the circular path of the electron.

14. In a Solar Cell experiment, at a distance of 500 mm from the lamp the short-circuit current through the thermopile measured is 0.011 mA. Find the Intensity at that point.
