Spirit Online: Elemental Magic: Magic for All Religions Magic knows no boundaries, and that includes religion. My saying is "magic is as religiously specific as baking a pie". People commonly associate witchcraft with the religion of Wicca. This is a misconception. Witchcraft was around long before Wicca, in fact, it was around long before any major world religion. So let's clear that mentality away right now. Magic is appropriate for any religion. How is that so? All of magic is, as its simplest, nothing more than calling on a higher power -- any higher power -- whether God or the divine self. It is like a prayer made of symbols and motions, the way dancing is like animated poetry. Magic can be a more emotional expression of one's love for their God or of a person's goals. If other people's opinions are what hold you back, just remember that people are quick to condemn what they don't understand. When people think of rituals and spells, it calls to mind the concept of devil worship created by the Church. But this was not always so. Early Christians performed coptic magic, books of these rituals and spells still exist as evidence. It was not until later that the Church changed its mind and decided there was no compatibility between magic and religion. Yet how is a spell that distinctly different than a prayer? Magic can be, if you allow it, a compass on you journey to the higher goal of your religion. It will help to keep you heading in the right direction and it will guide you back to your path if you get lost. I hope you will take all I have said into careful consideration in your decision.

Spirit Online: Elemental Magic: Finding Your Magical Place There is a magical place for everyone. This is a place where one feels most comfortable and believes their magic is best worked. This may be within the home, outdoors, anywhere! There are a few requirements you should keep in mind when finding your magical place: 1. It should be safe. 2. You must be able to get privacy at some point in your magical place. 3. You need enough room to be comfortable and move around. Your first step will be to begin surveying your choices of spots. Some people may instantly know where their magical place is. But if you are not one of those people, I will tell you how to find, bless, and utilize your magical place. Write down a list of places which are nearby enough to visit often that you like and that fulfill the three requirements for a magical place. Visit each place and meditate there for awhile, absorbing the energies of your surroundings. Contemplate whether you would feel truly comfortable working here. You should feel a sense of security and freedom. Once you find your place, you should begin to prepare it for magic. You'll need a place to store magical supplies. If your spot is indoors, this is easy. A box under a bed or in a closet will serve nicely as a supply keeper. You can easily arrange jars and bags of herbs, stones, books, candles and other useful items in your box and even

decorate it to give it more personality. If your place is outdoors, the drawback is that storage may be a little more difficult. Here is my solution, though you are free to think up your own workaround: Purchase a plastic Tupperware container large enough for your items that you need at hand. Dig a hole near your magical place deep and wide enough to set the container in. Fill in the area around it and put the lid on top of the container. Now, conceal the lid -- this can be done with a layer of soil, sod, or even a potted plant as long as you can easily move the conceal mean to reach your items. If you have stepping stones near your magical area, you could just place a large, flat stepping stone over the storage space instead of using the lid! Here is a drawing of what this storage space would look like (side view):

If this method is impossible, you can keep items inside your house and carry them out whenever you need to use them. It is just more convenient to have your storage space handy. Things you might keep in your storage space:
q q q q q q q

Candles Candle holders (for safety!) Incense sticks or cones Empty dish Jars or bags of herbs Written magic, books, and/or a book of shadows Stones and/or crystals

These items will be reasily at hand when you need them! Next, it's time to cleanse away any negative energies in your magical area. Light a white candle and cast your circle. Take a broom or besom and sweep the area, imagining cleansing, white light flowing from your hands down through the handle and out onto the floor. When you feel that the negative energies have been "swept" away, sprinkle salt around the area. Optionally, you may light a stick of sandlewood incense. Home sweet home! You should use your magical place in magical workings as much as possible. You should also meditate and pray in your space whenever you can. It is your sanctuary!

Spirit Online: Elemental Magic: What is a Witch? Since you are here to learn about magic, I can only assume the question must be on your mind... "if magic is supposedly compatible with any religion, then what the heck is a 'witch'?" Well, "witch" is a very broad term. It is also a very misunderstood term. Most people believe that being a witch means you must be Wiccan or pagan. This is entirely untrue. Anyone of any religion can be a witch. A witch can be a spellcasting, or a healer, or simply a person who sees and feels the magical energy in nature. I cannot speak for anyone but myself, so this is just my feelings about what it means to be a witch. I am proud to be a witch. It is a positive path for me, it fills me with joy and confidence. To me, it means being closer to my source. It gives me a sense of destiny without robbing me of my sense of control. I have a better understanding of how nothing can be achieved without dedication, and every action has a consequence. Whether in application of magic of simply in everyday decision making, this teaches me to choose my moves wisely. Magic is something whichmust be used well and in moderation. A mistake in magic is like a mistake in anything else in real life. A lesson is learned. A witch may accept the lesson, or repeat the mistake and learn it all over again. But, most of all, being a witch is about remembering that you are a piece of God. Whatever God/dess you believe in, you are a part of their glory, a single beam of their infinite light. You do not have to submit to the direction the current is carrying. You have the divine inside you, enjoy this and use it well.

Spirit Online: Elemental Magic: Sacred Stone Circle The sacred stone circle is ideal for any type of working -meditation, energy raising, ritual practice, divination. It is best built outdoors, but can easily be built inside. This attunes you with your natural energy, your higher self, and the spirit world. For the circle of stones you will need four large stones, a bowl of water, a stick of sandlewood incense, salt, and a red candle. Place your first stone in the north. Walking clockwise, place the second stone in the east, then south, then west. The result will be a square of stones with enough space to sit or work:

This square represents the earth (physical) plane. Now, take a handful of salt and walk clockwise (beginning at the north), pouring the salt in a circle connecting the stones. As you do this, feel the protecting blessing energy of the salt:

This represents the "overlapping" of the earth plane and the spirit (nonphysical) planes so that you may safely work closer to the nonphysical realm. Now place your bowl of earth on or beside the north stone. Move to the east stone and place your incense on or beside the stone. Light it, and move on the to south stone. Place your candle here and light it. Finally, place the bowl of water in the west. Sit facing north, or whichever direction you are most comfortable. You may now begin your meditation or ritual work within your sacred stone circle!

Spirit Online: Elemental Magic: Healing Magic This is a ritual for healing any problem. This is usually best performed on a waning moon, when it is almost new moon. You cannot perform this ritual on someone else without them being present. You can, however, guide the person who needs healing to do this ritual on their own. It is only effective if the person with the ailment performs it, so it is ideal to heal yourself. Your primary ritual tool will be an element. Choose one from the list that is most appropriate for whatever area of the body you will be healing:

Abdomen: Fire Arms: Earth Blood: Air Bones: Earth Chest: Air Ears: Water Eyes: Water Feet: Earth Genitalia: Fire Hands: Earth

Heart: Fire Legs: Earth Lungs: Air Mind: Fire Nose: Air Skin: Earth Stomach: Water Teeth: Earth Throat: Air Uterus: Water

magical place and get ready. Your working area should be equipped with whatever is need to invite the element of choice into the magic. You can use any method you want to have the element present, but if you need ideas, here is some help:
q q

q q

Earth: Stones, crystals, a dish of earth, or salt. Fire: Candles or a small bonfire (be careful and keep a bucket of water handy for emergencies!). Air: Incense Water: A dish of water will suffice, but if you can perform the ritual near a body of water like a river or lake that would be ideal.

You only need to have the element pertinent to your ritual at hand. However, if you want to invite all the elements, that is fine too. Just keep the focus on the one vital healing element. You should dress is all white if at all possible. Now, let's begin the ritual! Cast your circle around your entire prepared ritual area. Sit in the center with your element before you. Inhale and exhale deeply and slowly to reach a meditative state. With your eyes closed, envision a pure white light surrounding you. Now that you have entered your magical state, take the element into your hands (if it is water,

hold it in a container; if it is fire, hold the candle; if it is air, hold the incense stick, etc.). Feel the energy of the element flowing through you. Hold the element over the general area that needs healing and envision the energy flowing into that area. See it being healed. Continue to allow the elemental energy to flow into the area until a feeling of peace comes over you. It is done! Close the circle and return the element to nature. (Note: don't even blow a candle out! Pinch it or extinguish it with a bit of water.) Have an after-ritual meal of cakes and wine (or bread and juice). This ritual will begin doings its work immediately, but it will not cure anything isntantly. Allow it a good amount of time, a week for a minor ailment, a month for a major illness. If you are using any medications or supplements for your illness, it helps to have those present during the ritual. They will be charged with magical energy so that when you take them they will be doing twice the good!

Spirit Online: Elemental Magic: Create a Living Elemental NOTICE: This is quite a bit of information to consume, so please read it very well until you fully understand it and keep it at hand before you attempt to create an elemental. One can create a thoughtform and infuse it with emotional energy. This creates what is called an artificial elemental or a familiar. Its purpose is to serve as a watcher, a guard, a messenger, or a companion. You may or may not be able to physically see it, but either way, you will be able to sense it. DO NOT create an artificial elemental that you do not need. If you create one and think you have failed, you are likely to be wrong... the last thing you want to do is create an elemental and not realise it. Be responsible for your actions! Your elemental should be in the correct color of its purpose and element. It is up to you to decide what element your artificial elemental will be made of -- it should suit you and your purpose. If you do not know about the characteristics and colors of the four elements, please visit the main Elemental Magic page. Once you have decided your color and element, you should decide on the shape of the artificial elemental. It is easiest to use an animal form that you are familiar with. (If you have a totem animal, that would be ideal.) Now, let's begin creating the elemental. Visualise a ball of light in the color of the element glowing before you. Allow it to take the form you wish it to be. Example: if I wanted an earth elemental, which would be green, and I wanted it in the shape of a lizard, I would visualise a green ball of light before me. I would then see the ball of light taking the shape of a lizard.

The artificial elemental is now created. You should communicate with your elemental telepathically. This means that you simply have to think instead of speaking and the elemental will respond to you the same way. Your first step should be to name your artificial elemental. The first name that comes to your mind when you talk telepathically should be the name you use. When you decide on the name, state aloud or in your mind: "I name you (insert elemental's name here)". Once this is done, you should tell your elemental why you created him/her and what their purpose is. Should they stand as a psychic guard? Warn you if there's a problem? Pass on a message psychically to someone? Make their purpose very clear. You may now communicate freely with your elemental as much as you want, and keep it around as long as you like. Remember than an artificial elemental is a responsibility as much as "owning" any other creature should be. Keep track of it. You may wish to use the "genie in a bottle" method to keep your elemental in one place. Use an empty box to create a "home" for the elemental. Draw the symbol of whatever element you used to create the elemental (see Elemental Symbolism) on the box and telepathically ask your elemental to use the space you have created. Should you decide you no longer need the elemental, reverse the process you used to create it. First visualize the creature before you, then see it become an ordinary ball of color light again, and then draw that energy back into yourself by simply inhaling deeply.

Spirit Online: Wicca & Magick: Spells and Rituals:Wish Spells:Releasing Energy Towards Any Goal Spirit Online: Wicca & Magick: Spells and Rituals:Wish Spells:Releasing Energy Towards Any Goal This is a form of magic which can be used for just about anything- thus making it a more advanced type of magic which should only be used by those who are comfortable with the ethics and are prepared to deal with the consequences in they misuse this technique. Sit in a comfortable position with your legs crossed and your arms extended outward. Your receptive hand (whichever hand you do not write with, usually the left) should be wide open, palm facing upward. Your projective hand (the hand you do write with, usually the right) should be in a fist. Close your eyes and imagine your goal. Now visualize a bright red fire surrounding your receptive (open) hand, feel the "warmth" of the energy. Imagine it flows up your arm and through your body into your projective hand (the closed hand). Continue letting energy flow from the red energy "flame". Once the impulse hits you, and you feel the time is right, thrust both arms to the right (or left if you are left handed) opening up your projective hand as you do so. This motion should be similar to "throwing" the energy towards your goal. As you do this, say in a commanding voice what will happen as a result of the energy release. (For example, if you used it to get a raise in payment at work, you could say "I will get a raise!") Results, if successfully performed, will be almost immediate. With practice, this can work very well.

Spirit Online: Elemental Magic: Elemental Magic I Elemental Magic I will cover basic techniques for directing elemental energy towards a goal. Your first step in any ritual involving elements is to decide which element you need to work with. Consider your goal and then choose the element most appropriate for reaching that goal: Earth: Formative, strong Air: Moving, psychic, communicating Fire: Transforming, energetic, strong emotions Water: Soothing, relaxing, deals with feelings and emotions This is only a summary of the properties of each element. If you think you have found the right element, your next step is to read more about the characteristics of that type of energy. Choose from the following links to learn more about your element and decide if it the correct choice for your working: Earth Energy Air Energy Fire Energy Water Energy So, using this information, let's say you wanted to have a ritual for creating stronger passion between you and your spouse. After reading the above information, you would probably choose fire. Pretty simple! Next, for your elemental ritual, you will probably choose to have the element physically present in some form so that you can draw energy from it. Here are ways to have

the element present: Earth: Stones Air: Incense Fire: Candle Water: A Bowl of Fresh Water Having the element physically present is optional, but it will help, especially when you are new to this. Now to begin your ritual! You should start by becoming one with the element, imagining your entire body and spirit as being made out of the element. You can use a simple affirmation to help yourself achieve this, such as "I am (name of element)". You may hold the element in your hand as you visualize yourself becoming that element. You now have connected with the element, giving you access to a pool of elemental energy. The final step is to direct the energy towards its goal. You can visualize the energy being released in the direction of the goal while saying an affirmation or chant. For instance, if we use the previous example for increasing passion in a relationship, you could visualize you and your partner being romantic together, and then say in a commanding voice an affirmation such as "The eternal power of fire brings us passion". Inhale, and feel the remainder of the fire energy being released as you slowly exhale. It is done. Repeat this ritual often, until the goal has been achieved. Once you are comfortable with all this information and have practiced enough that you are confident with it, you can move on to Elemental Magic II.

Spirit Online: Elemental Magic: Elemental Magic II Elemental Magic II will cover some more advanced techniques to be used during elemental magic. Please be sure you have read Elemental Magic I first so that you have the foundation in place to learn these advanced techniques. Having learned the basics and experimented with them, you should no longer need any physical tools for working with the elements, so I will not cover having the element physically present. At this point, you should be ready to use no tools but your own mind. The first part of the advanced techniques is to learn to moderate the amount of energy you use. You can specifically decide how much or how little energy you wish to send out, which will bring you more exact results. There are many methods to do this, but this is the one I consider easiest. Once you have reached the step of visualizing yourself as being made out of the element (see Elemental Magic I), place your hands in front of your chest with all the fingers touching eachother (thumb to thumb, index finger to index finger, pinky to pinky, etc.) Now visualize a ball of light forming within your hands. This ball of light will be in the correct color of the elemental energy you are using: Earth: Green Air: Yellow Fire: Red Water: Blue

Now, depending on how much energy you will need to use for your ritual, imagine the ball of light growing or shrinking. When you sense that the energy is in the right quantity, use your affirmation and release the energy towards its goal as described in the previous lesson. If you do not want to release the energy, but rather want to energize yourself with it, just inhale to bring the energy into your body. Another valuable use for the above technique is to charge an amulet, charm, or talisman with the appropriate type of energy. For instance, if you needed a charm that would give you strength, you could use the above method to gather earth energy and then when you release it using your hands, send it directly into the charm. Then your talisman, amulet, or charm would be charged with magical energy which you could carry with you wherever you went, or which you could give to a friend as a present. A simple piece of jewelry could be charged with healing elemental energy, for instance, and then given to a relative who is ill. Good luck with all your magical workings!

Spirit Online: Elemental Magic: Element Symbols You may wish to use elemental symbols in your rituals, whether by visualizing them to empower yourself with the energy of a particular element, or by drawing them in the air or on the earth during magic. I'll simply introduce the symbols, they are simple yet very magical.

Earth is an inverted triangle with a line through the middle, it is usually green but can also be black.

Air is an upright triangle with a line through the middle, it is yellow in color.

Fire is a red triangle.

Water is a blue inverted triangle. Herbal Healing Poetry Forum Crafts & Recipes Free Fantasy The symbol which represents all of the elements together (which in some ways can also Graphics represent spirit, or "akasha") is the Star of David: HTML Help

Direction: North Colors: Black, brown, and green Elemental: Gnomes Time of Day: Midnight Season: Winter Tools: Pentacle Zodiac: Taurus, virgo, and capricorn Animals: Bulls, dogs, deer, cows, bison, and mice Places: Caves, mountains, forests, tunnels, and deserts

Earth energy can be derived from any earth-based source. This can be stones, sand, crystals, clay, even salt. It is one of the most commonly used elements of energy. Earth energy is strong and cool. It is especially strong where the earth is uninhabited, for instance, in a desert or in the mountains. Earth energy is especially valuable in healing magic. It also represents love, money, and goals. A stone or crystal is often held for strength and protection. The earth can also be a way to feel closer to our creator.

Air energy is not as overpowering as other energies, which is fortunate because it is so abundant. It can be found all around us, in the air we breathe and the wind blowing through the trees. Air energy is light and can feel almost any temperature when it is being worked with. It is most powerful during the fury of a storm. Lightning charges the air and the wind moves incredibly fast. Air energy does not have as much physical power as earth or fire energy, but it has great advantages nonetheless. It is the energy of intellect, wisdom, and understanding. It also supports communication and friendship.

Fire energy is the hot, devouring power of the most intense emotions. Anger, lust, love. Just like the element itself, fire energy is difficult to control and it destroys everything in its path. Yet when contained, the energy can provide "light", revealing the truth to its holder. While fire energy is most powerful when out of control, like in burning buildings or forest fires, it is useless to a person when it is this furious. One cannot harness the energy of a raging fire and will instead find that the fire consumes their energy and leaves them drained. A contained flame, like in a candle or in hot coals, is much more valuable. It is more than enough for magic, but not enough to overpower the undertaker.

Water energy is useful and easy to work with. It can be easily obtained, whether from a rain puddle or a water faucet. The energy drawn from the element is, similar to air, not as physically destructive as earth or fire. This energy is strongest during a storm, when the ocean is churning, charging the energy. But despite this powerful physical display, water energy is most valuable for reflection and psychic powers. Water energy can be drawn and used for dreaming, prophecy, and divination. These are its most valuable uses, but it may also be used for cleansing the spirit.
