The purpose of this project is to take advantage of the legal interpretation that permits DFS North America to sell Duty Paid items sales tax exempt for export. In order to qualify for the sales tax exemption, DFS North America must ensure that the merchandise is only sold to qualifying international travelers, and that the merchandise is truly exported prior to use/consumption. DFS North America must also ensure that the merchandise is only delivered to the customer at his point of departure from the United States. This enhancement also allows select Duty Paid locations to be excluded from the sales tax exempt status and thus continue selling to all customers regardless of whether they are departing the US
