HACKENSACK, NJ - The high
school bowling season has ended and
although the Passaic County, N. J.
bowlers already know who earned all-
county status, the deserving young
Bergen County keglers await to learn
whether they too will be blessed with
all-county recognition. Two such
bowlers are Hackensack senior Rob
Gilbert, Jr and Glen Rock junior Jake
Rollins, both of whom will likely earn
Bergen first team stardom. Neither of
them disappointed the spectators
present for the Stan Niemiec Youth
Travel session at Bowler City.
Rob garnered Bowler of the Week
honors for scoring a stellar triple
deuce 249-237-214: 700 in leading
Bowler City I to an impressive sweep
of Holiday I in a position encounter.
Also sharp for BC I were Dumont
junior Ryan Perez who followed up
last weeks 632 set with 223-207: 613
and Vin Santoro 215-207: 590. Best
scores for a struggling Holiday quar-
tet were Graham Mulligan 191,
Dillon Cilento 186, Nick Cilento 186
and Lilly Sigona 173. Meanwhile,
Jake Rollins came charging from the
gate with a six-bagger before settling
for 257 which he followed with 190-
237 for a 684 threesome as he and
Matt Myers 213-204-196: 613 pow-
ered Fair Lawn to a 2702-2587 tri-
umph over Boonton; Fair Lawn also
benefited from Hunter Perrys 192
and Tyler Nappis 188; leading
Boontons squad were the thunder-
ing trio: Justin Puchalski 224-211:
618, Karl Kattermann 233: 603 and
Patrick Teshima 214.
In other position round play, Bowler
City II clashed in a tight contest with
Bowler City III which earned three
points, 2536-2529 behind Patrick
Sucero 204 and his supporting cast of
over average achievers: Tiffany
Sucero 169, Arielle Wallace 163 and
Louis Ferrante 162. Pacing BC II was
anchor lefty Justin Garcia with 242-
202-200: 644 and Welmer Paguay
203.
Montvale captured its second
straight sweep by overpowering
Bowler City IV, 2644-2514 as Katie
Didonato and Kyle Ladewig sparkled
in the finale, each with 220 while 10-
year-old Michaella had her finest set
of the season, a well-over-average
361. In his return to the lineup after a
two-week respite, Matt Russell posted
a 179. Leading scorers for BC IV
were Nick Ferrante 192, Greg Khan
173 and Caitlin Tombo 170.
Closing out the session, anchor
Kevin Macchia pounded the maples
with a triple deuce 215-216-223: 654,
Colette Malyack added a 202-230:
620 and Joe Malyack a 200-214 as
Holiday II earned seven points from
the vacancy.
