Walts Vision of Tomorrowland
Tomorrowland. A name almost instantly recognizable by people around the world. The much loved land was arguable Walt Disneys biggest ambition in the Disneyland project. Walt was an innovator, so he was right at home when he travelled across the globe to different Worlds Fairs. The idea of having one available to him whenever he wanted was pure bliss, so he went out and built it. Unfortunately, funds restricted Tomorrowland heavily. When Disneyland opened on July 17th 1955, Tomorrowland was the least developed of all the lands and did not receive the praise Walt had hoped for. In 1959, the funds became available for expansion and Walt took this opportunity to improve his personal Worlds Fair greatly. In 1964, Walt used what he had learnt from Disneyland to contribute to the 1964 Worlds Fair. His pavilions were no doubt the stand outs of the fair and many of them made there way back to Disneyland. In 1966, Walt announced EPCOT, an idea that took Tomorrowland and expanded it immensely. It was planned to be another permanent Worlds fair but on a much grander scale. Walt passed away that same year and EPCOT was not opened until 1982. With EPCOT around, Tomorrowland took the opportunity to drop the Worlds Fair theme and take on a more fantasy approach. As time goes on, Tomorrowland continues to become less and less about what Walt had envisioned in 1955. So I asked myself, how can we bring that Worlds Fair feel of the original Tomorrowland and make it work with
EPCOT being located 10 minutes away. The end result is Tomorrowland 55, something I feel would make Walt proud.
A vista into a world of wondrous ideas, signifying mans achievements.a step into the future, with predictions of constructive things to come. Tomorrow offers new frontiers in science, adventure, and ideals: The Atomic Age, the challenge of outer space, and the hope for a peaceful and unified world. -Walt Disney July 17, 1955
Tomorrowland 55 is a land that finds that fine line between the future and fantasy. It does this while keeping Walts vision alive in every little detail. Guests will step into an alternate universe based on one simple idea, For the future to have turned out the way it was envisioned in the 50s, what would the 50s had to have been like?. This idea is presented by taking guests to a fictional 1955 Worlds Fair in Orlando, Florida. The main thing they will notice, pretty much everything is run by a single corporation, Fink Co. Fink Co is similar to Buy N Large (Wall-E) except this time things turn out well. Fink Co is constantly pushing the boundaries and bringing the fictional 1950s future to reality. They are the sole reason the future will become how it is envisioned in countless artwork from the 1950s, and they use Worlds Fairs as a way to show the world what they will be doing next. The backstory behind Fink Co is explained in subtle details throughout Tomorrowland 55, including the story behind the founder, Jeremiah Fink. The story is presented in a way that leaves much to the guests imagination, how Fink Co came to be is completely up to them! So to sum it all up, Tomorrowland 55 will take guests back to 1955 in an alternate universe where they will visit the Orlando, Florida Worlds Fair. They will discover that most of the worlds products and services are run by Fink Co, a huge corporation whose goal is to bring the future to life as quickly as possible. Guests are free to roam the Expos many pavilions and take a look at what the future holds.
THE ENTRANCE
Every part of Tomorrowland 55 is broken up into small sections. These sections arent marked on any map, they are just a way for designers to understand how the area should
feel and look. The Entrance is the first thing guests see when they enter the land, so it is very important to emphasize Future. Firstly, the rock work and arch outside the land has been taken down. There is no longer be any wienie at the front entrance, all attention is drawn towards The Unishpere (explained later). However, there is two new additions to the entrance. Row and Bot are some of the latest tech from Fink Co. They are robotic figures able to interact with humans. They stand on top of two podiums and interact with guests as they enter the land. The architecture in The Entrance doesnt hold any specific theme, it just reflects some the 1950s future vision by using a lot of plastic, aluminum and odd shapes. Like any world expo facade it is very elaborate and over the top.
Fink Expo
The space that was occupied by Stitchs Great Escape, Cosmic Rays Starlight Cafe and Mickeys Star Traders is now home to the heart and soul of Tomorrowland 55, Fink Expo. This is Fink Cos main pavilion, the area where guests can get hands on with all their new tech that will soon be changing the way we live. Fink Expo is very similar to Innoventions except for the fact that nothing is real. Guests will be able to witness technological feats such as holographic TV, X-Ray goggles, a jetpack and even a highly advanced robotic dog! Everything on display here is something we always dreamt of seeing in our future but no one ever went out and tried to create them, until Fink Co. Now this is a Worlds Fair meaning the displays are many years before their time, so they can still be a little sketchy sometimes. Normally its an easy fix but there is the odd case of a major malfunction. This brings us to one of the major displays in Fink Expo, Mrs Mac: The Mechanical Maid. Taking the place of Stitchs Great Escape is this Fink Expo presentation inspired by Rosie from The Jetsons. A robot who could do all the chores around the house has been every
housewifes dream for hundreds of years, so Fink took this on as a project. They finally had a working prototype and it was ready to be shown off at Tomorrowland 55, at least they thought it was. Guests will enter the presentation room and take a seat in one of three rows. Due to this early model of Mrs Mac using a radioactive battery, guests must be secured down to ensure they do not exit before decontamination, or Fink Expo may become contaminated. The presentation starts off fine with a host showing the audience some of Mrs Macs features like her extendable limbs, ultra suction vacuum, odor diffuser and water spritzer. Then something goes horribly wrong, the radioactive battery leaks onto Mrs Macs wiring causing her to go a little crazy. She overrides the power in the presentation room and shuts off all the lights. She then decides shell show the audience what she can really do with her features. She stands on guests shoulders as she makes her way around the room, vacuuming guests, spritzing them with water and even releasing her stored odors. Eventually Fink Co take control of the situation and after being decontaminated guests receive a 10% off Mrs Mac coupon and are free to leave.
Although this is the only exhibit in Fink Expo that is a standalone attraction, most exhibits are highly interactive and will change over time. This area is a great place to cool down in the florida heat and discover more about the Fink Corporation.
The queue for FFPE is nothing fancy, mostly just plain grey walls with metal bars that form an organized line. The main purpose of this queue is to introduce guests to the type of things they will encounter on the ride. Hanging on all the walls are posters of the different type of citizens you could be. There is a photo of the citizen, a title and a small description. There are also TVs hanging from the ceilings that play commercials for Fink products that will be featured in the ride.
Pre-Show Guests are taken in large groups into a cinema and sat in one of 6 rows. Once they are all quiet the lights dim, the curtain opens and a still image on the Fink Co logo begins to project on the wall. Narrator: The Future. A vision that inspires Fink Co to innovate everyday. A word that gives you a hope and dreams for a better tomorrow. A life that is not as far away as you may think. So I ask you, are you really prepared for the future? An animated depiction of a family in the future entertaining themselves in there home appears on screen. Narrator: Here you see your average family of the future enjoying themselves at home. Young Billy is playing fetch with his Robo-Dog. Teenage Sally is chatting with her boyfriend on the Video Phone. Mother Betty is reading a book while Mrs Mac prepares dinner. And Father Steve is watching the game on his Smell O Vision TV. Sounds like fun right? Thats because it is. But what if something goes wrong, are you prepared to fix it? The animation changes showing the family still in their home, but now all the appliances they were enjoying a malfunctioning. Narrator: Now look at the family of the future, things arent as fun anymore. Young Billys Robo-Dog is attacking the neighbors. Teenage Sallys video phone is calling random strangers. Mother Betty is trying to stop a malfunctioning Mrs Mac from burning the meatloaf. And Father Steves game has been interrupted by the Smell O Vision ejecting horrid smells. Now the odds of all these problems occurring at once is extremely low, but in the future you may need to be prepared to fix one. The Fink Co logo is once again projected on the wall. Narrator: To prepare you, the citizens of 1955, for the future Fink Co has created the Fink Future Preparation Exam or FFPE for short. Now dont stress, this is not your usual exam. We will simply ask you questions about scenarios you may encounter in the future, but your answer is never incorrect. Instead it will help us categorize you as a certain type of citizen. This allows us to give you advice on how to prepare for your future! What are these types of citizens you ask? A short animated clip of the citizen is shown as the narrator explains that type. Narrator: The Responsible Citizen, they know there right from wrong and wouldnt harm a fly. They consider others before themselves and are well prepared for the future.
The Old Timer, they never really left the 1930s. Radio will always be the most innovative thing they have seen and when it comes to future technologies they are very oblivious. The Quick Thinker, there is no situation that this citizen cannot overcome. They are smart and think about every move they take, they dont need to prepare for the future they will just figure things out when necessary. The Brave Hero, a citizen who tackles there problems head on and never looks back. The future is full of fun new adventures for them and nothing will stand in there way. The Evil Genius, a citizen that only wants one thing. To watch the citizens of the future bow as they destroy the world Fink has given to them. These citizens have much to learn and short time to do so. Instructions on how to board your vehicle and use the touch screen project on the screen. Narrator: Well now you know the categories theres just a couple more things before you take the exam. Be careful while stepping onto your vehicle remembering that it is in motion. Questions will show up on the screen in your vehicle and be spoken over a speaker. Touch which answer you believe is correct when prompted. Stay in your vehicle until the lap bar is raised and then follow the exit signs to find out what type of citizen you are. The Fink Co logo is projected on screen Narrator: Now go and choose wisely. After all, this is YOUR future!
Ride Experience Guests move from the cinema to the loading bay where they are seated two to a vehicle. The vehicle begins its journey through a dark tunnel with flashing lights all around. The Fink Co logo appears on the in-vehicle touchscreen. The narrator speaks. Narrator: This is the screen where your answers will appear. Simply touch which option you choose, ready to begin? A single option that says Yes! shows up on the screen. Narrator: Excellent. Now we can head to the first question! The vehicle moves into a new room. The vehicle turns to face a stage on the right. On stage is a Mrs Mac AA malfunctioning and smashing up a kitchen with a family of four hiding behind there living room sofa. Narrator: Question One. If your Mrs Mac were to malfunction and put your family in danger, what would be the appropriate action to take? The options show up on the touchscreen as they are said.
Narrator: A) Wait for a safe opportunity to take you and your family outside then call a Fink Co Mechanic to come shut down and repair the Mrs Mac. B) Sprint towards the Mrs Mac and pin it down long enough for your family to escape. C) Head to the nearest telephone booth and call the town sheriff to solve the problem. D) Make your way towards the house fuse box and shut down all power in your home, disabling the Mrs Mac. E) Open the front door allowing the Mrs Mac to escape and terrorize the neighborhood children. Guests choose there answer then make there way into the next room. This process is repeated 5 more times with different scenarios. I wont go into detail on all of them because that is not necessary, you get the idea by now. Guests will exit there vehicles and make there way into a room showing there name, photo and citizen type (RFID allows for this info). They then exit through the former Buzz Lightyear entrance.
SUBURBIA
The Suburbia area is made to look like your average suburban living area in the future. Empty walls are replaced with house of the future facades and green hedges modeled as fun shapes are scattered around. It makes guests feel like they are home, in the future.
The Unisphere
The Unisphere is Tomorrowland 55s icon or wienie. It is a smaller scale replica of the 1964 New York Worlds Fair Unisphere, which still stands today. I chose this icon for two reasons, firstly because it is a real Worlds Fair icon so it suited perfectly and second because of the vital role Walt Disney and WED Enterprises played in the 1964 Worlds Fair. The Unisphere will take the place of Astro Orbiters and will stand 150 feet high (including the height of Finks Future Foods and Transportation of Tomorrow underneath).
Transportation of Tomorrow
Tomorrowland Transit Authority is now known as Transportation of Tomorrow (Presented by Fink Co). This ride still holds the same purpose, a slow moving tour of Tomorrowland, but now has some extra features to help guests understand more about Tomorrowland 55. The vehicles and queue remain the same, just a couple of on ride experiences have been altered. The loop is now spoken by a deeper voiced male that doesnt sound quite as
boyish, why? Because I feel it suits the future Tomorrowland 55 tries to create better. As you pass over certain Pavilions the loop will describe them as usual but will also provide some backstory on them and Fink Cos involvement. The separate areas (Suburbia, The Entrance, SpacePort etc) will also be pointed out to guests. The inside portions of the ride will no longer be used to promote the attraction it takes place inside. Instead these will be used to go deeper into Fink Co R&D. If the Pavilions are taking guests 20 years into the future, these are taking them 30. You will see tests of things such as human teleportation, but it will never work out as planned. The Progress City model will stay due to its historical value, but will be described as Fink Cos Dream City. This attraction will not be changed to drastically, just plussed to suit the story of the land.
Carousel of Progress
So I couldnt possibly get rid of this attraction, it is a personal favorite of mine and I like to think of it as the ideal Tomorrowland attraction. In order to keep it in Tomorrowland 55 it had to undergo some major changes, but the heart and soul of the attraction itself remains. The name is now Walt Disneys Carousel of Progress Presented by Fink Co. The Fink Co part is only shown in small letters underneath the facade sign so dont stress, the name isnt that long. The rides facade has changed a lot. Guests will now be walking into a family home of the future, this helps it suit the Suburbia area feel. Now for the ride experience... Opening Scene The enter spiel about Walt Disney, gone. At least most of it. It will now consist of a spiel talking about what you will encounter in the show, why Walt Disney chose this and a small mention of Fink Cos sponsorship. 00s and 20s These scenes will remain mostly untouched. They are before Finks time so they still work as they are. The only new addition will be a mention of Jeremiah Fink in the 1920s starting up a corporation that will change the future. 40s This is where changes start to happen drastically. This entire scene is now made to look much more futuristic. Fink Co began to make a real difference in the 30s so we can assume the 40s would have looked a lot different. Many Fink appliances are featured in the house and the family even own an electric car. Finks huge world turn around is discussed briefly and the father describes many of the same historical events but with a funny Fink twist to them. 80s This scene is vital to the entire Tomorrowland 55. The whole point of the land is to show what the 50s would have been like if the 80s turned out as planned. Many of the appliances shown in the original scene are still prominent, but the set design is similar to the facades of the land. Other appliances included are a Mrs Mac maid, a flying car, a food teleporter and the father talks about their vacation to the moon. It is all very over the top but that is what TL 55 is all about!
I know its hard to imagine changing some of Walt Disneys final work so drastically, but I think if anyone can understand sacrifice for storytelling it would be Walt.
Fink Co Elixirs
A fantasy many of us hope to see in the future is the ability to manipulate the human body and give ourselves superhuman powers. In other words, drink something and have superpowers. Fink have researched into this dream and although the technology isnt quite there yet, they have been able to create some pretty fancy elixirs that can enhance the human body. This small stand will take over Auntie Gravitys Galactic Goodies and will sell novelty thick shakes that alter you. These elixirs are still prototypes so dont expect amazing results, but at least you get to keep the cup! The three flavors available are... Snake-Like Strength (Strawberry and Chocolate) Energetic Eagle (Banana and Vanilla) Rhino Rush (Lemon and Lime) These elixirs may not be as related to the future theme as the rest of the land, but they suit the World Expo theme very well so I added them as a nice touch.
SPACEPORT
SpacePort is one of the smaller areas in Tomorrowland 55, but plays a very big role. Not only is it home to the classic Space Mountain, but in every detail it attempts to tell a story to the guest about the airport before their vacation in space. This area looks more like the
original Tomorrowland more than anything else. Everything is very over the top and elaborate with a strong emphasis on Space. There are a few throwback to the idea of a future airport including a large flight board showing all the departing ships. The entire area is used to compliment Journey to Space Mountain, a revamped version of the classic attraction.
Queue The queue will not change too much, the same old Space Mountain interiors. The only new addition is advertisements for activities to do once on Space Mountain playing on screens in the walls. Scene 1: Security Scanning -Guests load onto their vehicles and pull down the lap bar -Once they get the all clear from a Cast Member they begin their journey -An automated voice speaks from inboard speakers Prepare for security scanning -The vehicle moves into a cylinder shaped room lined with tron style neon lights. -The voice speaks Beginning Scans -A green wall of light goes over the vehicle and back. - All Clear, Prepare for Launch Scene 2: Launch -The tron lights flicker off, the vehicle now sits in a pitch black tunnel. - A single bright light appears at the end of the tunnel. - Launch in 10, 9, 8 - The vehicle slowly pulls back
- 7, 6, 5 - A red light begins to flash and beep in the vehicle, the text Do Not Launch! appear on the onboard screen. - The bright light at the end of the tunnel turns red. - 4, 3, 2, 1. Goodbye. - Strobe lights blind the passengers as the vehicle launches towards the red light. - Once at the end of the tunnel the track moves into a near vertical angle and keeps moving up. Scene 3: Rough Take-off - The vehicle just makes it to the top, then immediately plummets down a short drop. - The red light continues to flash and beep as guests vehicle does the usual Space Mountain turns and drops for about 20 seconds. - The track straightens up and the vehicle comes to a steady pace. - The red light stops and the Do Not Launch! changes to Successful Launch! Scene 4: Earth - The vehicle turns right, continuing at a smooth slow pace. - Around the corner a large bright Earth is revealed in the distance. - The vehicle moves around half the Earth at a slow pace with peaceful music for about 10 seconds. - Suddenly the red light begins to flash and beep again, the onboard screen reads Meteor Ahead! Scene 5: Meteor Shower - Almost immediately a large meteor is revealed in front of the vehicle, guests drop underneath. - The vehicle swurves, drops and rises in all different directions avoiding the oncoming meteors. This continues for about 30 seconds. - The vehicle eventually clears the shower and begins moving straight and slow for a brief moment. Scene 6: Space Mountain - The red light stops flashing and the onboard computer now reads Meteor Avoided.
- After a couple seconds of coasting along smoothly the onboard computer once agains switches, this time reading Preparing For Landing - The vehicle makes its way down the biggest drop of the ride - Guests are hit with strobe lights on their way down and at the bottom of the drop find themselves back in a tron like chamber similar to the one in the beginning. - The vehicle moves slowly through the chamber. - An automated voice speaks Scanning for Space Contaminants. - A blue wall of light scans over guests. - All Clear, Welcome to Space Mountain! - The vehicle exits the chamber and guests exit straight into the Space Mountain area (discussed next).
Space Mountain
Space Mountain is the replacement for the Tomorrowland Arcade. It is a small interactive play area which is themed as Space Mountain, the Fink Co resort on the moon. The exit from Journey to Space Mountain leads right into here so guests get to reach the destination of their journey. Inside are interactive elements that you might find at resort in space. These include.... - Moon Bounce - Lunar Hotel Room Tour - Moon Golf Simulator - Lunar Cruise (Driving Simulator on the Moon) This area is not a major attraction, it simply adds more to the story of Journey to Space Mountain and can be a fun way to kill 10 minutes.
METROPOLITIAN
Metropolitan is the largest of all the areas and is home to the brand new E-Ticket Motorcar of the Future! The Tomorrowland Speedway has been completely taken over to include this E-Ticket and a brand new area, Jeremiah Square. The Metropolitan area is basically the city of the future. Huge skyscraper facades tower over guests and the sounds of this alive city can be heard from all over. Of course, this is still a Worlds Fair area so there isnt any real citizens around, but if youre lucky you might be able to spot a flying car or two!
Jeremiah Square
This beautiful town square type area takes over the existing TL Speedway loading area. This spot is ideal for many things like grabbing a snack, lying on the grass, buying some
Fink merchandise or even learning about Jeremiah Fink, the founder of Fink Co. I highly suggest that last option because that is the reason Fink Co built this rest area at the Fair, to honor the man who started it all. Below is a numbered map of Jeremiah Square....
1) The Innovator - This bronze statue sits perfectly in the middle of Jeremiah Square. It
portrays Jeremiah Fink as he looks into the sky with an expression on his face saying What else can I change?. At the foot of the statue is a plaque reading.... Artists envision the future every day, but if we didnt have the people who go out and turn that vision into reality then wed still be hunting for our meals. Fink Co Founder Jeremiah Fink 1901-1954 2) Motorcar of the Future - The entrance for the E-Ticket ride (discussed later) is a large city hall building. Inspired by the city hall from Back to The Future Part 2, this colonial style architecture building with futuristic elements sits in the middle of large future city skyscrapers.
3) r
G a s s
areas - The green areas on the map represent grass areas available for guests to just sit down and relax if they want. Park benches are also in these areas. 4) Auto Barn - This merchandise shop is the exit for Motorcar of the Future. From the outside it is designed to look like a car repair shop and features a life size model of Fink Future Mobile out the front. 5) Innovators Cafe - This is a small cafe and bakery that is great for grabbing a quick snack or having a coffee on the outside seating area watching people enjoy Jeremiah Square. Inside the Cafe is memorabilia from Jeremiah Fink that help tell his story from being and nobody to being the most powerful man on earth.
Facade The City Square, known as Fink Although building with lot to facade for this ride is the Hall building in Jeremiah also Hall. this doesnt have a lot to do motorcars, it does have a do with
Jeremiah Fink. The connection between the two is that Fink spent his last days working on the project, it was to be his masterpiece. So before embarking on the ride guests are shown the history of this man and how much he cared about this project. Queue The queue starts out with a colonial architecture style interior to match the Fink Hall facade, but seamlessly changes back to the futuristic feel of the rest of the land. In the colonial stages of the queue, guests are entertained with pictures and videos on the walls that tell the early story of Fink Co and how it became so popular. Once the queue makes the shift back to the future the pictures and videos are all related to the motorcar project and how Fink spent his final days working on it, then to have it completed after his death. One of the final videos found in the load zone explains to guests the experience they are about to encounter... Welcome ladies and gentlemen to Fink Cos Motorcar of the Future Pavilion! Today you are going to experience the ease of driving in the new FinkMobile! Imagine you are on your way home from work or school or a friends house, anything you can imagine! It then ends up taking you an hour to get home because of things like traffic, road blockages, red lights, things that are no longer a problem in the FinkMobile! Dont believe me? Well let me prove it! Today you will experience that exact scenario and I will show you some of the neat features of the FinkMobile that makes your life easier! Ready? Lets go!
Scene 1: Traffic Guests load into their vehicle, put on their seat belts and move forward a few meters. The same voice from the final video plays on in vehicle speakers.
Voice: Everyone buckled up? Good., because this first test is going to be a fast one. Hold on and get ready for the power test! The engine begins to roar, tilting the car back slightly. The car takes off straight away and exits the loading zone, it immediately takes a sharp right. Once around the corner guests find themselves in a city of the future with the road completely covered with traffic. The car comes to a screeching stop, almost hitting the car in front. Voice: Looks like our power test has been interrupted by a drivers worst enemy, traffic. Not to worry everyone! The FinkMobile is built to handle this situation. A wooshing type noise begins to come from under the car. The front end lifts up slowly, tilting the car back. The back end then rises, evening out the car. Voice: This ladies and gentleman, is hover mode! Allowing us to fly right over traffic! The car then begins to fly over the traffic, gradually picking up speed. At the end of the road guests take a left, the vehicle then moves into a dome projection room. These parts of the ride are more simulator type and take advantage of the KUKA arm. Scene 2: Hover Mode Voice: Welcome to the city of the future! The vehicle flies high over a futuristic city. After few seconds, it tilts forward and descends closer to the building. Voice: Flying is easy as can be in the FinkMobile thanks to the power steering and anti crash sensors! Let me give you an example. The vehicle is now on an equal level with the buildings and the swerves around them at high speeds. The vehicle then picks up a lot of speed and heads straight towards the side of a building. An robotic voice plays from inside the vehicle. Robotic voice: Incoming crash detected The vehicle suddenly tilts straight up and avoids crashing. Robotic voice: Crash avoided The vehicle straightens and moves at a steady pace. Voice: Pretty neat ha? I think thats enough flying for now. And look, that road doesnt have a single car on it, perfect! The vehicle descends down to the road. Right before it reaches it the vehicle turns and exit the dome seamlessly and guests find themselves on the actual road. Scene 3: Red Lights
The road is clear of any cars and your vehicle begins to pick up speed as it heads down the road. Voice: This is just perfect. Not a single car, it looks like it might be a straight ride home for us now! Suddenly every traffic light on the road switches to red. The car brakes immediately, throwing guests forward. Voice: I guess I spoke too soon. But hey, this is a chance to show off another feature! Never get caught by a red light again with the Alternate Route feature on the FinkMobile! The robotic voice plays again. Robotic Voice: Searching for alternative route. Route found. The car turns right around a corner begins to pick up a lot more speed. Voice: This feature allows the car to take complete control. You just sit back and relax while it finds a way without and lights or traffic, what more could you ask for? The car continues to get faster. It zig zags around cars and sometimes even flies over them. This continues for about 10 seconds until the car skids around a corner and comes to a stop. The road ahead is completely clear but is a dead end due to a beach being on the other side. The car begins to pick up speed again, moving fast towards the beach. Voice: Ah! I forgot to mention something! The FinkMobile is not restricted by water, it has a really cool feature which... well I think youll see it in a moment. Scene 4: Water The vehicle comes to the end of the road but continues onto the beach. It eventually hits the water causing a large splash on guests. Instead of sinking the car keeps coasting along on the water, almost like a jet boat. Voice: The FinkMobile comes completer with propeller and is 100% waterproof! If across a lake is the best route for you to get home, then thats the route it will take. The FinkMobile begins to turn right. It is then revealed around the coast that there is a large cargo ship blocking the way. The FinkMobile continues to move towards it. Voice: Not to worry, remember the anti crash sensors from before? They should come into play here.... I hope. The vehicle gets closer to the large ship. Right before impact the robot voice plays. Robot Voice: Incoming crash detected.
A hemisphere shaped plastic screen rises from behind the vehicle and covers guests. The vehicle dives underneath the ship but in reality it just drops into another dome room. Robot Voice: Crash avoided. Scene 5: Submarine The vehicle stays under the water and moves along slowly. Guests are able to see marine life and coral reefs around them. Voice: That worked out well, and you got to see another feature! The Submarine mode allows you to coast along underneath the water, not as useful as flying but certainly comes in handy as you just saw. The vehicle continues underwater for a few seconds. Many fish swim past including a shark who comes dangerously close. Voice: I think youre just about home now. Ill let the FinkMobile find its way, that should be all the features. The vehicle rises out of the water and exits the dome room. It drives up the bank of the ocean and the plastic shield is removed from guests. The vehicle is now on an empty road in a suburban area. Scene 6: Power Test Voice: Here we are, your street! That was an interesting ride home wasnt it, but hey we beat everyone else! Not a single car on this street. I got an idea, how about we finish off that power test now? The vehicles engine roars loudly. Voice: Hold on tight! The vehicle takes off down the straight road. Guests reach the fastest speed on the ride yet. After a few seconds of top speed the vehicle skids sideways and lands perfectly in a driveway. A wife and two young kids are standing at the front door waving at you. Voice: Here we are, home sweet home! And we saved 49 minutes, not bad right? The homes garage door opens up revealing the exit zone for the ride. The vehicle moves in slowly. Voice: Well I hope you enjoyed your ride on the FinkMobile, the motorcar of the future! Be sure to pick one up, theyll be in stores 1957! Thanks for riding and enjoy Tomorrowland 55!
OUTRO
Well if you read this far, I congratulate you. Its a lot to take in but I believe its the perfect Tomorrowland. It involves Walts original dream of having a permanent World Expo, but involves enough fantasy to make it work with Epcot right around the corner. And on top of all that, it does what a Disney park should do. It tells a great story and transports guests to a place they could never go, somewhere interesting and exciting. The goal is to have guests enter Tomorrowland 55 without any knowledge of Fink Co but exit believing they really went back to an alternate 1955. I hope you all enjoyed my idea, its very different but is that necessarily a bad thing? I should credit Bioshock as well, I did borrow a couple ideas for the story off of them but no direct plagiarism.
And if you dont like it thats fair enough, your opinion is your opinion. If you prefer the alien Las Vegas that sits there now then Im happy for you :)
