Celebrating Sisterhood! by Pamela, 1
st
VP
Our 2013 Initiation so
special! April 1 was a wonderful
event at the Landing Restaurant,
filled with love, hope, support, and
of course, a little extra noise! But
as all good educators do, we take
everything in stride and make the
most of every opportunity. We
rocked and rolled right along with
the music and brought in our new
members Xye, Joyce, Suzie, Cathy,
Andrea, and Shirley!
It was a fun evening - and
gee, wasn't the food great? Thanks
to team B for their planning! Liz
was our official photographer for
the event and her wonderful photos
are on our Facebook page as well
as our Big Tent site.
We continue to grow and
April 2012- April 2013
THAT hours = 1222!
We have donated 533
Jared Boxes since 2008!
bring in stellar new members
that offer new eyes and ideas
and share in the future of our
chapter.
We have another truly
exciting event on the near
horizon - the 2013 Chi State
convention at the Burbank
Airport Marriott, May 3-5. If
you have attended in the past,
you know how great the
weekend is - if you haven't, try it
out. There is lots of spirit and
camaraderie...lots to learn and
share and just plain enjoy!
This year's theme is
"Celebrating the Bounty of
Excellence." From volunteering
for the store to singing in the
choir, the Order of the Rose to
the Celebration of Life, there is
laughter and tears and joy and
sadness (along with some
business, naturally). It is also a
chance to meet old friends and
new! Come along!
Then, of course, we
have our own monthly meeting
on May 6 at Chavez Middle
School. We will be honoring
the recipients of this year's
scholarships and grants. See
Dot Selvaggio's scholarship
committee report in this
newsletter for more
information.
So - come one, come
all! Let's spring into spring
with our DKG sisters!!!!
